Strawberry Balsamic Custard Tart Recipe!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups (about 7 1/2 ounces) all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • Pinch salt
  • 9 tablespoons (1 stick plus 1 tablespoon) cold unsalted butter, cut into 1/4-inch pices
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 recipe Vanilla Pastry Cream, chilled
  • 1 quart strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons aged balsamic vinegar

Procedures

  1. In bowl of food processor, pulse flour, confectioners' sugar, cocoa, and salt until combined, about 3 one-second pulses. Add butter and pulse until mixture is consistency of wet sand, with no visible bits of butter remaining, about 10 to 15 quick pulses. Add yolk and pulse until dough just begins to come together. Wrap dough with plastic wrap into 5-inch disc and chill until firm, at least 1 hour.

  2. Adjust oven rack to middle position and preheat oven to 350°F. Roll out dough between 2 pieces of parchment paper, plastic wrap, or on lightly floured surface to 13-inch circle. Gently roll up dough with rolling pin and roll out over tart pan. Press dough into bottom and sides of tart pan. Chill in freezer for 15 minutes.

  3. When oven is ready, line chilled pie shell with foil or parchment paper and fill with weights (I reuse dried beans for this), and bake on the lowest rack of the oven for 10 minutes. Remove weights and liner, turn pie, and bake until the bottom crust just begins to puff slightly, about 10 minutes more. Remove pie shell from oven and allow to cool completely.

  4. When you are ready to assemble the tart, place the chilled pastry cream in a large bowl and use a large whisk to beat it until the cream is smooth and shiny. Pour the whipped pastry cream into the chilled tart shell and use a spatula to smooth the top. Top with the fresh, sliced berries and drizzle with the vinegar. Serve immediately for best results and chill leftovers.

"DISNEY'S PLANES" SET TO TAKE OFF AT EAA AIRVENTURE OSHKOSH 2013

EAA AIRVENTURE OSHKOSH 2013

Special preview screening set at Fly-In Theater on Friday, August 2

EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wis. – (April 29, 2013) – Everyone knows that Oshkosh becomes the busiest airport in the world the week of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh (July 29-August 4), and that airplanes take off all the time … however, 2013 will be a first for some very special planes.
The summer release of “Disney’s Planes,” the animated comedy adventure from above the world of the popular 2006 film “Cars,” has the entire aviation community buzzing!  Those attending AirVenture this year will have the opportunity to experience a Special Preview Screening at the Fly-In Theater on Friday night, August 2, one week before the movie opens in theaters nationwide. “Disney’s Planes” will touch all who see it and help them understand the thrill and excitement that flying offers.
Director and aviation enthusiast Klay Hall says, “‘Disney’s Planes’ is a great underdog story. It has a lot of heart and a message we can all use: If we can believe in ourselves, step out of our comfort zones and get past whatever fear that’s holding us back, we’d be surprised with the results. And that’s exactly what happens to Dusty in this movie. He’s a crop duster who’s never flown above 1,000 feet, but he dreams of being the fastest air racer in the world. He has a lot of obstacles to overcome and needs to dig pretty deep to find the courage to become more than he was built to be. We’re so happy to share the film with the passionate aviation community at AirVenture.”
Prior to the movie, Hall will be present at the screening to talk about the making of “Disney’s Planes,” sharing behind-the-scenes stories and secrets.
“The Fly-In Theater has become a signature event at AirVenture and Ford is delighted to host Dusty and the crew for a screening that no doubt will pack the house,” said Kevin Keling, Director of Global Auto Shows & Events for Ford Motor Company, which each year sponsors the Fly-In Theater presentations.
The special preview screening is included with regular EAA AirVenture admission on Aug. 2. The Fly-In Theater is an outdoor facility with a five-story-high screen and full sound system that presents aviation and other action movies for AirVenture attendees during AirVenture. It is a favorite evening activity for all Oshkosh attendees, especially those from the adjacent Camp Scholler camping area.
Jack Pelton, EAA Chairman of the Board, says “AirVenture is a wonderful family event and we are absolutely thrilled to be a part of the ultimate family experience with this special screening of “Disney’s Planes.”  Dusty will be a real star of AirVenture this year in so many ways. We urge people to make plans now to join us for this special event.”
“Disney’s Planes” features a talented roster of voice talent, including Dane Cook, Brad Garrett, Teri Hatcher, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Stacy Keach and more. “Disney’s Planes” takes off in theaters on Aug. 9, 2013. ABOUT “DISNEY’S PLANES”
From above the world of “Cars” comes “Disney’s Planes,” an action-packed 3D animated comedy adventure featuring Dusty (voice of Dane Cook), a plane with dreams of competing as a high-flying air racer. But Dusty’s not exactly built for racing—and he happens to be afraid of heights. So he turns to a seasoned naval aviator who helps Dusty qualify to take on the defending champ of the race circuit. Dusty’s courage is put to the ultimate test as he aims to reach heights he never dreamed possible, giving a spellbound world the inspiration to soar.

Flourless Chocolate Cake Recipe!

Ingredients:

6 large eggs
1/2 cup brown sugar (95g)
400 g dark chocolate (use a quality chocolate)
1 tablespoon brandy
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
300 ml double heavy cream (Australian double thick cream)
1 tablespoon icing sugar, for dusting
16 strawberries, to serve
extra heavy cream or whipped cream, for serving

Directions:

1 Preheat oven to 180°C / 350°F Grease well a 22cm round cake tin and line the base with baking paper. This cake is best cooked in a tin that has a removable base as it is much easier to remove from the tin for serving.
2 Place the sugar and eggs in a bowl, beat together for 10 minutes, or until creamy, using a stand mixer/electric beaters.
3 Meanwhile, chop the chocolate into small pieces and place in a heatproof bowl. Bring a saucepan of water to the boil and then remove it from the heat. Sit the bowl of chocolate over the saucepan of water, making sure that the water does not touch the bottom or sides of the bowl. Stir occasionally until the chocolate has melted.
4 Add the brandy, cinnamon and chocolate to the beaten egg mixture.
5 Lightly fold in the double thick cream to the mixture.
6 Pour mixture into the prepared cake tin and bake for one hour, or until a skewer comes out clean. Remove from the oven and allow the cake to cool in the tin.
7 Run a knife carefully around the edges of the cake before removing from the tin. Dust with icing sugar to serve and serve with a dollop of cream and a strawberry.
8 NOTE: This is a very moist thick cake. It will sink a little in the middle as it cools.

Ice Cream Bonbon Recipe!

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable shortening
  • 1 quart ice cream
  • Optional: sprinkles, finely chopped nuts,

Instructions

Start by placing a cookie sheet in the freezer to chill, once the try is chilled, you can begin to scoop the ice cream. Use a small cookie scoop to scoop out the ice cream balls. Work very quickly, stop and place the scooped balls into the freezer if they begin to melt.

Pop the ice cream balls into the freezer for six to eight hours. The ice cream must be frozen solid before placing warm chocolate on top, or the chocolate will slide right off.

Heat chocolate and shortening over a double boiler, you want to gently heat the chocolate stirring until smooth. Then remove the bowl of chocolate off the double boiler, and allow to cool for 5 to 7 minutes. If the chocolate is too hot, it will melt the ice cream immediately and the ice cream will slide off.

Working very quickly pick up the ice cream ball with resting on a fork, hold over chocolate, and spoon melted cooled chocolate over the ice cream, let the excess drip off, then quickly put the ball down on the cookie sheet, and work with the next ice cream ball. Time is of the essence, work quickly. If you want to add nuts, sprinkles, or any other toppings do so while the chocolate is "wet" an not fully yet.

Before eating pop the bonbons back into the freezer for approximately 2 hours before serving.

Ever since college-bound Mike Wazowski (voice of Billy Crystal) was a little monster, he has dreamed of becoming a Scarer—and he knows better than anyone that the best Scarers come from Monsters University (MU). But during his first semester at MU, Mike's plans are derailed when he crosses paths with hotshot James P. Sullivan, "Sulley" (voice of John Goodman), a natural-born Scarer. The pair's out-of-control competitive spirit gets them both kicked out of the University's elite Scare Program. To make matters worse, they realize they will have to work together, along with an odd bunch of misfit monsters, if they ever hope to make things right. Screaming with laughter and oozing with heart, Disney•Pixar's "Monsters University" is directed by Dan Scanlon ("Cars," "Mater and the Ghostlight," "Tracy"), produced by Kori Rae ("Up," "The Incredibles," "Monsters, Inc.") and features music from future Rock-and-Roll-Hall-of-Fame--inductee and award winning composer Randy Newman ("Monsters, Inc.," "Toy Story 3"). For more information, like us at facebook.com/PixarMonstersUniversity, and follow us on twitter.com/disneypixar. The film opens in U.S. theaters on June 21, 2013, and will be shown in Disney Digital 3D™ in select theaters. For more information, check out disney.com/MonstersU.

Ice Cream Jello Recipe!

Servings: 24

Ingredients:

1 (3 ounce) package cherry Jell-O
1 (3 ounce) package lemon Jell-O gelatin
1 (3 ounce) package lime Jell-O gelatin
1 (3 ounce) package orange Jell-O
1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream, sliced into fourths

Directions:

1 Add 1 cup of boiling water to package of cherry Jello and stir.

2 Add 1/4 of the vanilla ice cream and use a whisk to whip with the Jello.

3 Let set in a clear 9x13-inch pan for 15 minutes or as Wife2uRick suggested waiting 15-30 minutes or until set.

4 Then Add 1 cup of boiling water to package of lemon Jello and add 1/4 of the vanilla ice cream and use a whisk to whip with the Jello.

5 Let set on top of the cherry layer for 15 minutes or until set.

6 Then add 1 cup to the lime Jello and add 1/4 of the vanilla ice cream and whisk to whip with the Jello.

7 Let set on top of lemon Jello for 15 minutes or until set.

8 Then with the last box of Jello which is orange add 1 cup of boiling water and the last 1/4 vanilla ice cream and whisk together and put on top of lime Jello and let set.

9 I usually do other things while I am making this and you can also use your favorite jello's but these together taste really good and I always am asked to bring it.

10 Note: I usually cut my ice-cream in fourths and leave the ice-cream in the freezer until I use each 1/4th for the Jello.

11 Jello can be stored in refrigerator when done. :).
