Hey all you 90's music fans! Soundgarden is coming back to the airwaves with the release of the new Avengers movie, and we've got the scoop!

After fifteen years, the band that brought you such hits as Black Hole Sun and Spoonman, Soundgarden is reuniting with a brand new single called Live to Rise, an original song that will be featured in the end credits of The Avengers, arriving in theaters May 4, 2012. Live to Rise will be included in the soundtrack, Avengers Assemble, a compilation of 14 tracks from and inspired by the film.

When asked about their collaboration with Marvel, Soundgarden stated, "We've been hard at work on our new album, which will come out this Fall. When the opportunity arose to write an original song for 'Marvel's The Avengers' film came our way, we thought it could be a cool match. We are excited to release our new song 'Live To Rise,' which is also the only new song in the film. Here's a taste. Loudest of Love.

In addition to Soundgarden, other bands to be featured on the soundtrack hitting stores and download May 1st include Rise Against, Papa Roach, Bush, Evanescence and Buckcherry.
