Ant-Man and The Wasp proves that Big Things Come In Small Packages

After two epic Marvel movie releases this year, that were heavy on drama, with Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War, Ant-Man and The Wasp brings us a smaller movie. While it is indeed a smaller film, it also no less important to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will pave the way into next years Avengers 4.

This will be some spoilers in this review.

Ant-Man and The Wasp picks up a few years after the events of Captain America: Civil War. We learn what Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) has been up during that time. And as Ant-Man's involvement in any of the Marvel films has shown us, Ant-Man is most enjoyable when he is surrounded by others much more capable than he is. The main goal of the film isn't even Ant-Man's but something that he is simply helping with.

The lightheartedness of Ant-Man and The Wasp is the breather we needed after such heavy drama in the last two Marvel films. The humor hits on so many levels whether it is character interaction or even in the action sequences.

We start off in the past as Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) retells the sacrifice his wife Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) makes in a scene we saw in Ant-Man. Hank believes that there is a chance that his wife is still alive since Scott returned from the quantum realm when Hank originally didn't believe that anyone could return from there. Scott is recruited to help get Janet back but he is on house arrest as part of his plea bargain he made for his role in Germany that was a direct violation of the Sokovia Accords.

Randall Park is FBI Agent Jimmy Woo who is trying to keep tabs on Scott while also trying to find Hank and Hope who are fugitives from the law for creating the tech that helped Scott become Ant-Man. Meanwhile Hank and Hope are busy putting together a "quantum tunnel" to find Janet. Here the plot thickens as both black market dealer Sonny Burch (Walton Goggins) and Ghost (Hannh John-Kamen) want the tunnel for their own purposes. Also, Hank's one time colleague, Dr. Bill Foster (Laurence Fishburne) comes into play to help Hank with the tunnel. Plus, Luis (Michael Pena) and the rest of the crew are back for an added level of humor as well.

The men get the majority of the better one-liners here but the women steal the show. Ghost is a stunning and at times terrifying villain, Janet shines in her brief on-screen time and The Wasp shows that she is worthy of being in the title of a Marvel film.

The action is fast and fierce. The sight gags of being able to have people and vehicles change sizes at the most unexpected times will keep you on your toes. The chemistry between Scott and Hope brings us the buddy/romantic comedy genre into the MCU fold. And not like I need to tell you to stay through the credits but one of the two post-credit scenes will leave you counting down the days until you can see Captain Marvel and Avengers 4 next year.

DVD Review: Big Hero 6 The Series - Back in Action! Arrives on Disney DVD June 26!

Big Hero 6: The Series - Back In Action brings the first seven episodes from the first season as well as the 44-minute pilot movie to DVD. The series, currently airing on the Disney Channel, picks up right where the movie left off!

Hiro begins classes at the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology and re-assembles Baymax. Fred wants to get the group back together again. Wasabi, Go Go and Honey Lemon only want to continue their education and do not want to use their abilities and gadgets to take down criminals. But a mysterious criminal group appears and the group decides to spring back into action and save the city!

While the animation style has changed from computer animation to hand drawn "anime" style animation, the action is just as intense as ever! And even cooler, most of the original voice cast is back! Even Stan Lee is back as the voice of Fred's father!

The series is just as fun as the original movie and you will watch the episodes over and over again!

Big Hero 6: The Series - Back In Action features the first seven episodes from the first season:

Baymax Returns
Issue 188
Big Roommates 2
Food Fight
Muirahara Woods
Failure Mode
Fred's Bro-Trillion

There are also six bonus shorts that appeared on the Disney Channel's YouTube channel.

Disney's Live-Action “Dumbo” — Teaser Trailer and Poster

From Disney and visionary director Tim Burton, the all-new grand live-action adventure “Dumbo” expands on the beloved classic story where differences are celebrated, family is cherished and dreams take flight. Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) enlists former star Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) and his children Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe (Finley Hobbins) to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus. But when they discover that Dumbo can fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attracting persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton), who recruits the peculiar pachyderm for his newest, larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland. Dumbo soars to new heights alongside a charming and spectacular aerial artist, Colette Marchant (Eva Green), until Holt learns that beneath its shiny veneer, Dreamland is full of dark secrets.

Directed by Tim Burton (“Alice in Wonderland,” “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”) from a screenplay by Ehren Kruger (“Ophelia,” “Dream House”), and produced by Justin Springer (“TRON: Legacy”), Kruger, Katterli Frauenfelder (“Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,” “Big Eyes”) and Derek Frey (“Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,” “Frankenweenie”), “Dumbo” flies into theaters on March 29, 2019.

Incredibles 2 Review - One of Pixar's Best Sequels

It's been 14 years since Director Brad Bird introduced us to his family of superheroes and since then we have become surrounded by superheroes from various studios.

Does Incredibles 2 hold it's own in the likes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Let's find out as we review Incredibles 2!

The movie opens literally right after the original ends. If you have seen the sneak peek at Disney California Adventure, you get the first 10 minutes of the film. We see our heroes, the Parr family take on The Underminer! And just like that we thrown into the action!

As we know from the first film, superheroes are illegal but enter a tycoon Winston Deavor who wants to see superheroes legal again.

Helen is chosen to lead the campaign to bring superheroes back while Bob is left to take care of the household.

What follows is an engaging story full of heart and family. While we have waited 14 years for this sequel, Incredibles 2 easily ranks as not only one of Pixar's best movies, but one of the best superhero movies ever! The movie not only lives up to the hype of the original but surpasses it in several ways. For one, the humor level far exceeds that of the original. Jack Jack and Edna Mode easily steal the show. Second, the action is far more intense with bigger stakes. With the main characters all established, the action scenes will leave you on the edge of your seat. Third, there is a lot more depth to the overall story. They explore the superhero genre in ways that not even Marvel has yet to explore.

Pixar crafts one of the best films, animated or otherwise of the year and can only be summed up in one word, incredible!

Incredibles 2 opens in theaters June 15th, 2018.
