DISNEY+ TO DEBUT DISNEY ANIMATION’S ALL-NEW SERIES “BAYMAX!” ON JUNE 29

In celebration of National Streaming Day, Disney+ has released a new trailer and key art for Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Baymax!” Streaming exclusively on Disney+ on June 29, the all-new series of healthcare capers returns to the fantastical city of San Fransokyo where the affable, inflatable, inimitable healthcare companion robot, Baymax, sets out to do what he was programmed to do: help others. “I thought it would be fun to do a Disney+ series with Baymax interacting with normal folks,” said series creator Don Hall, who helmed 2014’s Oscar®-winning film “Big Hero 6.” “In each of our six episodes, Baymax just wants to help someone—and a lot of times they don’t want to be helped. He sets out to fix a physical issue that he's identified, and in the process, gets to a deeper, more emotional place and can be almost transformative in that role.”

“Baymax!” is produced by Roy Conli and Bradford Simonsen. The series’ episodes are directed by Dean Wellins (Eps 1, 2, 6), Lissa Treiman (Ep 3), Dan Abraham (Ep 4) and Mark Kennedy (Ep 5). Screenwriter is Cirocco Dunlap. Scott Adsit returns as the voice of Baymax. Voice talent featured in episodes include Ryan Potter, Maya Rudolph, Emily Kuroda, Lilimar, Zeno Robinson and Jaboukie Young-White.

DVD Review: Big Hero 6 The Series - Back in Action! Arrives on Disney DVD June 26!

Big Hero 6: The Series - Back In Action brings the first seven episodes from the first season as well as the 44-minute pilot movie to DVD. The series, currently airing on the Disney Channel, picks up right where the movie left off!

Hiro begins classes at the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology and re-assembles Baymax. Fred wants to get the group back together again. Wasabi, Go Go and Honey Lemon only want to continue their education and do not want to use their abilities and gadgets to take down criminals. But a mysterious criminal group appears and the group decides to spring back into action and save the city!

While the animation style has changed from computer animation to hand drawn "anime" style animation, the action is just as intense as ever! And even cooler, most of the original voice cast is back! Even Stan Lee is back as the voice of Fred's father!

The series is just as fun as the original movie and you will watch the episodes over and over again!

Big Hero 6: The Series - Back In Action features the first seven episodes from the first season:

Baymax Returns
Issue 188
Big Roommates 2
Food Fight
Muirahara Woods
Failure Mode
Fred's Bro-Trillion

There are also six bonus shorts that appeared on the Disney Channel's YouTube channel.

Baymax was named the Most Huggable Character of 2015 on National Hugging Day™!

BURBANK, CAJanuary 21, 2015 – After much deliberation and even more hugging, Baymax, the lovable personal companion robot and star of Walt Disney Animation Studio’s action-packed comedy adventure and Academy Award® Nominated film “Big Hero 6,” was today named Most Huggable Character of 2015 on National Hugging Day™!

The coveted award was presented by the Ambassador of Hugs, Kevin Zaborney, founder and creator of National Hugging Day.™ Baymax humbly accepted the award from his residence in San Fransokyo where he attributed the honor to his “non-threatening, huggable design” and said he looks forward to spending the upcoming year giving and receiving hugs from all.

The Most Huggable Character Award coincides with this month’s National Hugging Day™ held annually on January 21. National Hugging Day™ was created to encourage people around the world show more affection in public. There is only one way you are supposed to celebrate the holiday: offer a hug to anyone and everyone you want. If you plan on hugging Baymax, however, please be sure to empty your pockets of any and all sharp objects first.

Past winners of the Most Huggable Awards have included Joan Rivers who wrote after receiving her award, "I'm tempted to start saying 'Can we hug?' instead of 'Can we talk'" alluding to her participating in a telephone company ad; Jeff Ondash (aka Teddy McHuggins); Tessla Queen (bingtopia.com); and Mata Amritanandamayi (Kerela, India known as the "Hugging Saint").
