Restaurant Review: Cocoa Lounge 2013!

My favorite time of the year is here! That's right it's time for the return of the Cocoa Lounge at the Palm Terrace Restaurant located inside The Islands Hotel in Newport Beach! This year it is the fifth anniversary of the Cocoa Lounge and they decided it was time to change things up a bit. First, the price was dropped from $24 to $18. Second, they brightened the lounge area up. Third, they added more new chocolate concoctions than ever before!

So, I took ten of my closest chocolate loving friends and went to the Cocoa Lounge!

My friend Sophia and I decided to try to eat the sign but that didn't work out.

Chocolate caramel lollipops!

These peanut butter chocolate bars tasted better than any Reese's Peanut Butter Cups!

I don't want to tell you how many of these Cookies and Cream Pots de Creme we ate!

You could taste the honey in each bite!

These were so sweet with a bit of sourness to them!

I loved these delicious bites of German chocolate cake!

I actually think I didn't get around to trying this one =(

The almond cake was nice and light! The dark chocolate made it just perfect!

These had way too much banana in them! LOL!

Multiple layers of chocolate made this a winner!

These blew me away! They tasted like the strawberry shortcake popsicles!

I was too full to try one of these but maybe I will have to go back again soon!

One of the best puddings I have ever eaten!

Can I take some home? These were so good!

White chocolate margarita mousse? So amazingly perfect! My absolute favorite of the night!

Review of the Cocoa Lounge (2012)

Hello Chocolate fans! I have made my yearly visit to the Cocoa Lounge inside the Palm Terrace restaurant inside the Island Hotel in Newport Beach! The Palm Terrace offers this every February and if you love chocolate, this is an event that you cannot miss! It is $24 and it is all-you-can-eat! Let's take a look at the offerings from Thursday February 9th, which by chance was also Happy Chocolate Day!

dark chocolate mousse cake

white chocolate red velvet cheesecake ( i don't want to tell you how many slices i had of this one)

dark chocolate eclairs filled with almond cream (another fav)

financier s'more (another fav)

chocolate bread pudding with bourbon cream

cream cheese peanut butter brownies

milk chocolate mousse timbales

chocolate lollipops (one of my favs from last year and i had a few)

As you can see the selection is amazing! This was an amazing evening with great friends and chocolate! The best part was that we pretty much had the entire lounge to ourselves! The Cocoa Lounge runs February 3 - March 3. Open weekly, Tuesday - Saturday, 6 - 10 p.m. Price is $24 per person (excluding tax and gratuity).

Cocoa Lounge at Palm Terrace

wow! What an amazing experience! Complete chocolate overload! First of all I want to thank the wonderful people at the Palm Terrace for their hospitality tonight and great service! Second, I would like to thank my friends for coming out on a Sasaki Food time Adventure into chocolate! This must be what it's like going into the Wonka Factory! I didn't get to try everything because I was just too full! But here are some of my favorites:

The snicker's cake is one of my favorites. It just bursts with flavor and tastes like they melted several snicker's bars into the cake!

The white chocolate mousse squares were light and airy. Just delicious!

The pot de cremes was a nice rich chocolate pudding.

The port truffles were my absolute favorite! You could taste the port wine mixed in the rich and milky chocolate. Just a pure delight!

The chocolate chip bread pudding was also another winner. Piping hot and the bread pudding is one of the best I have ever had!

Just amazing desserts and all you care to eat for $18. You cannot beat that deal! The Cocoa Lounge is only available until the 26th of this month. It is Tuesday through Saturday from 6pm to 10pm. If this is an annual event for them, it will become an annual event for me!

The Palm Terrace is located in The Island hotel in Newport Beach. They offer complimentary valet for those going to the Cocoa Lounge.
