NEVER BEFORE SEEN CLIP FROM "SECRETS OF THE WHALES"

BURBANK, Calif. (April 13, 2021) – Today, Disney+ shared a clip from its upcoming original series, “Secrets of the Whales,” featuring a sperm whale calf nursing from its mother – a moment recorded on video for the first time.

Additional never before seen moments featured in the series include: evidence suggesting that Belugas give themselves names so groups can keep track of each other; baby belugas sharing their moms’ call signs, scientists learning that a baby sperm whale suckled from its mother when they saw the footage, 30,000 humpbacks charging down the coast of Australia towards Antarctica and using breeches to talk to each other, and the first cross-species adoption ever recorded; Beluga pod adopts narwhal as part of the pod.

The four-part series, from National Geographic, is executive produced by Academy Award®-winning filmmaker and conservationist James Cameron (“Avatar”) and narrated by award-winning actress and conservationist Sigourney Weaver (“Alien,” “Avatar,” “Gorillas in the Mist”)All four episodes will be available to stream exclusively on Earth Day, Thursday, April 22, 2021, exclusively on Disney+.

The digital soundtrack to “Secrets of the Whales,” with score composed, produced and mixed by Raphaelle Thibaut, will be released on April 19 by Hollywood Records/Disney Music Group. Music from Secrets of the Whales Original Soundtrack features 20 tracks from the series and will be available at digital service providers.

The three-year project will also be featured in the new National Geographic book, Secrets of the Whales, now on sale, and the May issue of National Geographic magazine, The Ocean Issue, available online at natgeo.com/planetpossible, on April 15.

Featuring the expansive knowledge and skill of acclaimed National Geographic Explorer and Photographer Brian Skerry, the series ventures deep into the world of whales to witness the extraordinary communication skills and intricate social structures to reveal life and love from their perspective. “Secrets of the Whales” unveils new science and technology to spotlight whales as they make lifelong friendships, teach clan heritage and traditions to their young, and grieve deeply for the loss of loved ones. Filmed over three years in 24 global locations, throughout this epic journey, we learn that whales are far more complex and more like us than ever imagined. This is a personal story that very few are lucky enough to witness … until now.

“Secrets of the Whales” is produced for National Geographic by Red Rock Films. For Red Rock Films, Brian Armstrong and Shannon Malone-deBenedictis are executive producers. For Earthship, James Cameron and Maria Wilhelm are executive producers and Kim Butts is associate producer. NATALIE PORTMAN TO NARRATE DISNEYNATURE’S “DOLPHIN REEF” All-New Feature Film to Debut on Disney+

In celebration of Earth Day, Disney+ revealed today that Academy Award®-winning actress Natalie Portman (“Black Swan”) narrates the next feature film from Disneynature, “Dolphin Reef,” which will release on Disney+, the highly-anticipated streaming service launching in the U.S. on Nov. 12, 2019.

“Dolphin Reef” dives under the sea to frolic with some of the planet’s most engaging animals: dolphins. “Disneynature takes audiences to spectacular and remote places to share remarkable wildlife stories captured by our award-winning film crews,” said Paul Baribault, vice president of Disneynature. “For ‘Penguins,’ which is in theaters now, moviegoers get to explore the vast and unforgiving Antarctic environment through the eyes of an Adélie penguin. ‘Dolphin Reef’ takes us to a thriving coral reef—one of the most fascinating and dynamic habitats on Earth—to see the incredible creatures who consider reefs their home.”

Created with Disneynature’s signature storytelling style, the film introduces Echo, a young Pacific bottlenose dolphin who can’t quite decide if it’s time to grow up and take on new responsibilities.  Dolphin society is tricky, and the coral reef that Echo and his family call home depends on all of its inhabitants to keep it healthy. But Echo has a tough time resisting the many adventures the ocean has to offer. Keith Scholey, who directed Disneynature’s “Bears,” helms the film.

“For more than a decade, Disneynature has amazed and inspired the world through its acclaimed True Life Adventure films,’” said Agnes Chu, senior vice president of Content for Disney+. “We’re thrilled to give Disneynature’s unique stories a new home in our growing collection of original content.”

“Dolphin Reef” will join the platform’s robust slate of original nonfiction programming, including “Be Our Chef,” “Cinema Relics: Iconic Art of the Movies” (w/t), “Earthkeepers” (w/t), “Encore!,” “Ink & Paint,” “Into the Unknown: Making Frozen 2,” “Marvel’s 616,” “Marvel’s Hero Project,” “Magic of Animal Kingdom,” “(Re)Connect,” “Rogue Trip,” “Shop Class” (w/t), the untitled Walt Disney Imagineering documentary series, and “The World According to Jeff Goldblum.” Disneynature’s “Penguins” will also be available on the platform in 2020.

Disneynature's Born In China - Earth Day Trailer

DISNEYNATURE’S “BORN IN CHINA” MOVIEGOERS
TO BENEFIT WORLD WILDLIFE FUND

Set in Wilds of China, New Disneynature Film Opens in U.S. Theaters Earth Day 2017

Moviegoers who see Disneynature’s new True Life Adventure film “Born in China” during its opening week in Spring 2017 will benefit World Wildlife Fund (WWF). Based on opening-week attendance, Disneynature, via the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund, will make a contribution to WWF to help protect wild pandas and snow leopards in China.

A new trailer featuring breathtaking footage from the film is now available.

Directed by Chinese filmmaker Lu Chuan, Disneynature’s “Born in China” follows the stories of three animal families, transporting audiences to some of the most extreme environments on Earth to witness some of the most intimate moments ever captured in a nature film. A doting panda bear mother guides her growing baby as she begins to explore and seek independence. A two-year-old golden monkey who feels displaced by his new baby sister joins up with a group of free-spirited outcasts. And a mother snow leopard—an elusive animal rarely caught on camera—faces the very real drama of raising her two cubs in one of the harshest and most unforgiving environments on the planet. Featuring stunning, never-before-seen imagery captured in the remote wilds of China, the film is produced by Disney’s Roy Conli and premiere nature filmmakers Brian Leith and Phil Chapman.

Disneynature’s commitment to conservation is a key pillar of the label and the films empower the audience to help make a difference. Through donations tied to opening-week attendance, Disneynature, through the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund, has contributed to a host of conservation initiatives. Efforts include planting three million trees in Brazil’s Atlantic Forest, established 40,000 acres of marine protected area in The Bahamas, protected 65,000 acres of savanna in Kenya, protected nearly 130,000 acres of wild chimpanzee habitat, cared for chimpanzees and educated 60,000 school children about chimpanzee conservation. Additionally, efforts have funded research and restoration grants in U.S. National Parks, supporting conservation projects spanning 400,000 acres of parkland and protecting over 75 species of animals and plants, and helped protect monkeys and other endangered species in their natural habitats across Indonesia, Cambodia and Sri Lanka.

“Born in China” opens in U.S. theaters Earth Day 2017.

Meet Maya and her curious newborn, Kip, in the brand new trailer for Monkey Kingdom, dropping into theatres this Earth Day.

Life is an adventure for Maya, the clever and resourceful blonde-bobbed monkey in “Monkey Kingdom,” Disneynature’s new feature film set among ancient ruins in the storied jungles of South Asia. Maya’s world is forever changed when she welcomes her son, Kip, into her complicated extended family. Like all families, Maya’s has more than its share of colorful personalities—and she’s determined to give her son a leg up on the social ladder. When their longtime home at Castle Rock is taken over by powerful neighboring monkeys, Maya's whole family is forced to relocate, and she uses her street smarts and ingenuity to lead them to untapped resources amidst strange new creatures and unsettling surroundings. Ultimately, they will all have to work together to reclaim Castle Rock, where Maya can hopefully realize her dreams for her son’s future.

Featuring a rich variety of characters, including a mischievous mongoose, simple-minded langur monkeys, predatory leopards and monitor lizards, “Monkey Kingdom” is directed by Mark Linfield (“Chimpanzee,” “Earth”) and co-directed by Alastair Fothergill (“Chimpanzee,” “Bears”). With music from award-winning composer Harry Gregson-Williams ("The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," “Shrek” movies), Disneynature’s eighth True Life Adventure—the follow-up to 2014’s “Bears”—swings into theaters April 17, 2015.

Happy 15th Anniversary to Disney's Animal Kingdom!

I couldn't think of a better place to share photos with all of you on Earth Day than from Disney's Animal Kingdom Park in Florida!
If you have never been, you will never look at your local zoo the same way ever again! The effort to make the environments look as natural as possible is unbelievable!
The animals look like they are literally right next to you. The barriers are all hidden keeping you a safe distance away.
You have to take the Kilimanjaro Safari tour and in the morning while the animals are all out and about! Later in the day they are off keeping cool or napping.
Some animals are allowed to roam free and can literally stop your vehicle from proceeding. This makes for an amazing opportunity for some up close and personal photos!
One of my favorite attractions is here! Expedition:Everest is what I refer to as a combination of Big Thunder Mountain and the Matterhorn with amazing detail and scenery!
Just take a look at the queue! It looks like you are in the Himalayas!
And make sure you explore everywhere! This includes a great walking trail to see the tigers!
There is another great walking trail to see gorillas!

Well, I hope you enjoyed my quick tour of Animal Kingdom! One of my favorite parks in Walt Disney World! Happy 15th Anniversary and Happy Earth Day!

Disneynature's Bears: First Look Featurette

"Bears" is in theaters April 18, 2014. For more information about Disneynature, like us on Facebook: facebook.com/Disneynature, follow us on Twitter: twitter.com/Disneynature

In an epic story of breathtaking scale, Disneynature's new True Life Adventure "Bears" showcases a year in the life of two mother bears as they impart life lessons to their impressionable young cubs.

Set against a majestic Alaskan backdrop teeming with life, their journey begins as winter comes to an end and the bears emerge from hibernation to face the bitter cold. The world outside is exciting—but risky—as the cubs' playful descent down the mountain carries with it a looming threat of avalanches.

As the season changes from spring to summer, the brown bear families must work together to find food—ultimately feasting at a plentiful salmon run—while staying safe from predators, including an ever-present wolf pack. "Bears" captures the fast-moving action and suspense of life in one of the planet's last great wildernesses—where mothers definitely know best and their cubs' survival hinges on family togetherness.
