DISNEY+ HEATS UP WITH “SUMMER MOVIE NIGHTS” INCLUDING "X-MEN" AND "THE GREATEST SHOWMAN"

BURBANK, Calif.  (June 29, 2020) - This summer, set a date with Disney+ for “Summer Movie Nights” featuring a sizzling lineup of brand new original and newly announced family favorite movies coming to the service. 

Beginning Friday, July 3 with the Disney+ premiere of “Hamilton,” the filmed version of the original Broadway production, families and fans can come together to watch blockbuster hits and original movies premiering every week. Some of the movies debuting during Disney+ Summer Movie Nights include:

Movie Review: The Peanuts Movie - A Heartwarming Film that Charles Schulz Would Be Proud Of!

When I first heard about The Peanuts Movie I was excited to see my favorite characters getting a feature length movie on the big screen! Then I heard it was going to be CG and I became disappointed. But then the first teaser came out and then a few trailers. My mind was blown! There was a huge sense of respect to not only the characters but to its creator, Charles Schulz. After taking a trip to the Charles M Schulz museum in Santa Rosa, CA in September, I was even more excited for the movie after seeing the love being poured into this movie. And now after seeing the movie, I cannot wait to see it again!

The movie opens with the traditional 20th Century Fox fanfare but then becomes a piano version played by who else? Why Schroeder of course! Brilliant, absolutely brilliant! The genius of this movie has begun and it never lets up!

We see all of our favorite characters though this is purely a movie about Charlie Brown and Snoopy. You hear all of the classic lines but yet at no time does any of it sound forced. And even though it is CG, the animation remains true to the classic comic strip. Some of my favorite moments are when Charlie Brown goes into deep thought and his thought bubbles are images of him but in black and white form like the comic strip. The other thing that I loved is that the film makers didn't try to modernize the characters. They remained faithful to the Peanuts that we all know and love.

The movie follows Charlie Brown as a new family moves into the neighborhood. As you may have already guessed, it is indeed the little red-haired girl. Charlie Brown is in love and then school starts. As luck would have it, the little red-haired girl is in his class. He then tries to come up with ways to impress her. The school talent show is coming up and he practices a magic act that will impress even his friends. When it's just about his turn, something happens and you see how big of a heart Charlie Brown has. He does the right thing and feels he blew his chance to impress the little red-haired girl.

Charlie Brown's next opportunity to impress the little red-haired girl is when the school dance come up and there will be a dance contest. Charlie Brown has the worst dance moves until his best pal Snoopy teaches him to move his groove thing. Now it's the night of the dance and Charlie Brown is out to prove he is the best male dancer in the school and he is on his way until once again something happens and Charlie Brown feels that he is letting his chances slip away.

All the while, Snoopy, as the World War One flying ace, is taking on his nemesis, the Red Baron, and trying to impress a female pilot poodle named Fifi.

Will Charlie Brown be able to impress the little red-haired girl or will he remain the lovable loser that he is? A heartfelt movie with great laughs that will entertain life-long fans and new fans alike. Now when is the sequel being announced?

The Peanuts Movie opens November 6th in a theater near you!

Celebrating 65 Years of Peanuts with a Visit to the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center

October 2nd, 2015 brought us the 65th Anniversary of the Peanuts comic strip! There was no better way to celebrate than with a visit to the Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa, California!

The museum is a small but solid museum. As we take a look inside you will see the wealth of material dedicated to not only the Peanuts themselves but to the man himself!

From the parking lot, the first thing you see is good old Charlie Brown himself! Of course I had to stop by and take a selfie with this celebrity!

Stepping inside the museum and you are greeted with this large mural of some of the Peanuts characters! Who is your favorite? Mine is Snoopy! He just always seems to get everything his way unless it's dealing with the Red Baron!

In the Great Hall is this amazing piece of art created by Yoshiteru Otani called Morphing Snoopy. It starts on the left with Charles Schulz's childhood pet beagle Spike as the foundation. Spike then begins to morph into Snoopy from the 1950s until the 1990s.

At the end of the hallway is this awesome ceramic tile mural, also created by Yoshiteru Otani. There are 3,588 ceramic tiles that make up this classic image of Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown.

In the Downstairs Temporary Gallery, they are showing Animating Comics. They feature two of my favorite Peanuts shorts of all-time.

The first one is, "A Charlie Brown Christmas." Here you can learn more about the short.

They even have animation cels from the short.

My other favorite is, "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown."

They also have animation cels from the short on display.

In the Strip Rotation Gallery you will find these statues of early Charlie Brown and Snoopy.

Heading upstairs you will find the Upstairs Temporary Gallery where they are currently showing The Peanuts Movie - From Schulz's Pen to The Big Screen. You get a first hand look at the upcoming movie.

I love the artists sketchbooks they have on display. You can see sketches from the movie's opening as well as sketches of some of the characters in the movie.

Next to this is the Biographical Gallery featuring the life and times of Charles Schulz.

There is also a recreation of Charles Schulz's Studio.

Heading back downstairs to the Great Hall, there is this great quote from Charles Schulz.

Heading over to the Gift Shop and they have Charles Schulz's Walk of Fame Star.

Not only is the gift shop home to an amazing collection of merchandise, make sure you head upstairs to see some of the families private collection of Peanuts merchandise than is not for sale. The second floor is home to this amazing stained glass of Snoopy.

This is a great place to end the tour. There is still so much to see and do here. I hope I gave you a great taste of what this museum has to offer and that you make the trip to visit the Charles Schulz Museum.
