Non-Spoiler Review for Ralph Breaks The Internet - A Worthy Sequel That You Will Want To See Over and Over Again

Ralph Breaks The Internet begins six years after the first one. We find Ralph completely content with his life, while Vanellope has grown bored with her game and yearns for more. Ralph has great intentions to help his friend but disaster strikes and her game is taken down due to a broken part. This is where the internet comes into play as both Ralph and Vanellope try to find a replacement part.

The film will appeal to kids, who have grown up all their lives with the internet and to older adults who can understand the struggle both Ralph and Vanellope face in this brave new world of the internet. We see so many different worlds within the internet from online shopping, to online gaming, to social media and even shades of the dark web.

Set between the humor and the fun visuals, the heart of the story is the relationship between Ralph and Vanellope. The ideas of selfishness, insecurities and what happens to friendships over the years all come in to play. These ideas are all powerful ones that we can all relate to in both positive and negative ways.

Then we get the much talked about Disney princess sequence with Vanellope. This scene shown to us at the D23 Expo last year brought the house down. One of the funniest sequences ever created still lives up to it's billing over a year after I first saw it. And yes, while the scene is Disney showing off, it does set up the rest of the movie.

Hopefully you have avoided anyone spoiling any of the movie for you. I hope that you avoid anyone spoiling the tag in the end credits as well as the sequence after the credits have played. There is also a musical sequence in the film that shows that this is really a princess movie.

Despite some of it's clunkiness, the movie is even more well-crafted than the first and the story arcs of both Ralph and Vanellope pay off in deep and meaningful ways. It's overriding message of friendship may leave you in tears and thinking of friends who have come and gone in your own life.

"RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET"--IMAGINE DRAGONS' "ZERO" MUSIC VIDEO

The multi-platinum, GRAMMY®-winning Imagine Dragons’ new music video for “Zero,” the end-credit song they wrote and performed for Disney’s “Ralph Breaks the Internet.”

Imagine Dragons, whose single “Natural” has spent eight weeks at No. 1 Alternative radio, appear in the arcade-based video (watch for the Disney Easter Eggs). In the movie, video-game bad guy Ralph struggles with his evolving friendship with fellow misfit Vanellope von Schweetz. According to Imagine Dragons’ lead singer Dan Reynolds, the film’s emotional themes are reflected in the song “Zero.” “They are compelling because they are real to each of us, personally,” said Reynolds. “That journey of feeling like nothing and trying to realize and recognize your worth as a human is an important part of life. And given the distorted version of reality kids face online and the expectations that come with it, this struggle is real for so many people right now.”

Dave Meyers directed the music video. Meyers was recently recognized at the Video Music Awards for video of the year (“Havana” by Camila Cabello ft. Young Thug), best pop video (“No Tears Left to Cry” by Ariana Grande) and best visual effects (“All the Stars” by Kendrick Lamar ft. SZA). 

Featuring singles “Natural” and “Zero,” Imagine Dragons will release their fourth studio album, “Origins,” on Nov. 9 via KIDinaKORNER/Interscope Records. “Origins” is available for pre-order HERE and can be purchased in a variety of formats and bundles HERE.

Wonder Woman's Gal Gadot Joins “Ralph Breaks the Internet” Voice Cast

Ralph and Vanellope encounter Shank and her unusual cohorts when they venture to the internet in search of a replacement part for Vanellope’s game, Sugar Rush. Shank, a tough-as-nails street racer, takes her role and her tricked-out car very seriously and doesn’t like to lose. When Vanellope finds herself in a street race with Shank, her Sugar Rush driving skills are put to the test—and Shank is impressed. “She is the coolest character in this world of Slaughter Race,” said director Rich Moore. “Shank’s lived a lot, she’s seen a lot, yet she’s got nothing but kindness in her heart—that’s the duality of that character.”

Said Gadot, “Shank is amazing at driving cars and has this bad-girl vibe to her. But as the movie goes on you realize how fun, wise and warm she really is on the inside, which is what I like most about her.”

According to director/writer Phil Johnston, Gadot adds extraordinary dimension to the character. “There's so much texture to her voice and so much living in her voice,” he said. “If Ralph is Vanellope's big-brother figure, we wanted a big-sister figure. We wanted someone that Vanellope would look up to, and Gal is definitely someone kids—and a lot of adults I know—aspire to emulate. I can't imagine anyone else embodying that part.”

Shank’s approach to racing—and life in general—opens Vanellope’s eyes to the limitless possibilities of the internet and the excitement of a new world that feels like home to her. Jane Lynch and Jack McBrayer to Join John C. Reilly and Sarah Silverman as Ralph Takes on the Internet

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (March 28, 2017) – Wreck-It Ralph is escaping out of his arcade and into the expansive universe of the internet next year when “Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2” hits the big screen. Dave Hollis, head of distribution for The Walt Disney Studios, revealed the much-anticipated sequel’s title and told CinemaCon attendees that Jane Lynch and Jack McBrayer would be returning to the roster.

Also returning are the team behind the original “Wreck-It Ralph,” who won an Oscar® last month for Walt Disney Animation Studios’ billion-dollar-box-office-blockbuster “Zootopia.” Directors Rich Moore (“Zootopia,” “Wreck-It Ralph,” “The Simpsons”) and Phil Johnston (writer, “Wreck-It Ralph,” “Zootopia,” “Cedar Rapids”), and producer Clark Spencer (“Zootopia,” “Wreck-It Ralph,” “Bolt”) are hard at work on the movie. “To take these characters we love and have them enter the enormous world of the internet has given us so much to explore,” said Moore. “Our production team has been hard at work designing a world that takes something we all think we know – the internet – but shows it in a whole new, imaginative way.”

Added Johnston, “We’re so excited to be working with Ralph, Vanellope von Schweetz, Fix-It Felix and Sergeant Calhoun again, and we have new characters we look forward to unveiling. At the center of this film, as in the first one, is the relationship between Ralph and Vanellope, two once-outcasts, who in each other, found true friendship.”

When “Wreck-It Ralph” opened on Nov. 2, 2012, it turned in the highest opening weekend ever for a Walt Disney Animation Studios film at the time of release. Nominated for an Oscar® and Golden Globe® for best animated feature, “Wreck-It Ralph” won the PGA Award for outstanding producer of an animated theatrical motion picture as well as five Annie Awards, including best animated feature, director, cast and screenplay. The film was named best animated feature by the Broadcast Film Critics Association, earned outstanding achievement in casting for an animated feature by the Casting Society of America, and won the Kids’ Choice Award for favorite animated movie.
