Photo Report from the First Day of The Year in The Disneyland Resort!

Starting 2015 off at my favorite place on earth! Let's take a look around both Disney California Adventure and then over at Disneyland on this first day of January!

Just a picture perfect day at Grizzly River Run! I love the pelton wheel!
Some fun new Grizzly River Run merchandise is here! I love this sipper mug!
I may need to get this throw!
Great new Grizzly tshirt!
Great new sweatshirt! Happy to see area specific merchandise making its return!
Cars racing through Radiator Springs!
This area is still my favorite place to take photos!
Over at Disneyland my friend Charlotte and I had to meet the big cheese himself! Charlotte wanted Mickey to see her new sweater. Her mom made it for her! Mickey was very impressed!
Having my first Starbucks of the new year! Of course I made a hack of pumpkin juice! So refreshing to enjoy in the park!
Then it was off to the kingdom of Arendelle on the Storybook Canal Boats.
A ship has arrived in the harbor.
Saying farewell to the kingdom.
YOO HOO there is a trading post!
Over in Fantasyland the Queen is not happy. There must have been too much noise the night before.
Olaf is still hanging around even though Anna and Elsa have moved to DCA for Frozen Fun!
Getting one last look at the snow on the castle.
Just another beautiful day at Disneyland. I can never get enough of the roses and the castle.
Picture perfect! Can't wait to see the enhancements to the castle for the 60th!
Now it's time to sit down for one of my favorite meals in the park. The broasted chicken at the Plaza Inn is still the best theme park chicken around!
One last time for one of my favorite desserts. The Yule Log is a chocolate mocha masterpiece. Until next holiday season my friend!

Hope you enjoyed a quick look around the resort! Look for more photos throughout the year. Feel free to let me know what photos you would like to see and even what stories in the parks you would like to see me cover in the comments below!

Happy New Year everyone!

The Power of Magic! (Amazing Disneyland Magical Moment Experience)

If Disney could only sell one particular thing, then Disney would be in the business of selling "Magic". Whether it comes from fairy godmothers, wish granting genies, talking turtles, or from the hearts of their front line employees better known as Cast Members.

As many of you know, I am a life long Disney fan. In my time I have been fortunate enough to experience a great number of wonderful Disney experiences but what happened the other day in Disneyland is something I will never forget! And to top it all off, it was an experience that wasn't even for me!

No, this experience was for my very dear friend Amanda. Once upon a time we worked together and then she left. For the better part of close to two years she had gotten married, lost her mom to cancer and then found out that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. This was all by the age of 24.

With her last round of chemo this past March and gaining back her health, her strength and her beautiful blond hair, we headed to one of her favorite places on earth, The Disneyland Resort! We had planned to stay all day and night until the fireworks!

We enjoyed a typically busy day in both parks taking in all the new attractions and shows that Amanda had missed for the last two years. Little did she know that I had some magic planned for her.
Even though we had planned to visit the Princesses in the Princess Fantasy Faire, character host Logan went the extra mile for us. He learned that Cinderella was Amanda's favorite and at the end of our visit with Cinderella, Logan presented Amanda with a mini glass slipper, a gift from Cinderella herself! Just seeing Amanda's smile made it all worth while!
But the "Magic" was not over as we still had a private table at The Plaza Inn waiting for us to enjoy the fireworks at! I was able to arrange this through a friend of mine who happens to be a manager there. Her and her team came up with all of the ideas and her team executed them with flawless perfection!
The "reserved" sign said it all. We had a beautiful white linen table for two topped with a single rose in a vase and rose petals.
In my opinion, simple is always best!
After a broasted chicken dinner, one of my personal favorites in Disneyland, and Amanda's new favorite, the next surprise was on it's way!
This amazing cake was on it's way out to meet Amanda!
Amanda's expression is priceless!
She did her best to keep it together!
Throughout the evening we were entertained by Steve and Moses. Steve, to the left, spent a great deal of time talking with Amanda, sharing with us the history of the Plaza Inn and just delivering over the top service! Moses came by several times with his trusty harmonica to serenade Amanda throughout our dinner!
After dinner and dessert and some coffee it was time to watch the fireworks from out fantastic vantage point!

In the words of Rapunzel and Amanda, "Best day ever!!!" I was happy to help put some of this together but the real effort was the love and caring showed by the Cast Members!

So, in the end I think I was wrong about Disney selling "Magic". Disney sells "Smiles"! Thank you to all of the hard working Cast Members who made this "Magic" for Amanda! You have all inspired me to be even more positive in my life. To see what I can offer and make someone's life better, even if it is for only a minute or as long as a lifetime!

Thank you for reading this and I hope it inspires you to do something great for someone!

Valentine's Day Meal Ideas at Disneyland

With Valentine's Day quickly approaching, there's still plenty of opportunity to book a romantic dinner at a Disneyland Resort restaurant. Popular locations like Napa Rose and the Blue Bayou are already booked, but other locations still have availability, including Wine Country Trattoria, Ariel's Grotto and several Downtown Disney eateries.
  • The Wine Country Trattoria and Cove Bar will also offer a special romance add-on to their normal menu offering. Priced at $25, this special package includes two glasses of Magicale sparkling wine, four chocolate-covered strawberries, and one long-stem rose. No advance reservation is required.
  • The House of Blues will offer a prix-fix Valentine's Day menu, with a choice of appetizer, entree and dessert for $80 per couple. Call (714) 520-2334 for reservations.
  • Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen offers a choice of appetizer, entree and dessert for $95 per person. Diners can choose to sit downstairs in Flambeaux's and enjoy live entertainment, or dine upstairs on the Jazz balcony with a view of Downtown Disney. Call 714-776-5200 for reservations.
  • Catal is the only of the three Patina Group restaurants in Downtown Disney with a special Valentine's Day menu. (Tortilla Jos and Naples will offer their normal menu). Catal will offer a three-course meal for $55 per person. Call (714) 774-4442 for reservations.
In addition to formal sit-down meals, several restaurants will have special treats, desserts or add-on options for the holiday. Look for heart-shaped sourdough bread loaves at Pacific Wharf Cafe, Valentine's-themed cookies and cupcake at resort bakeries, and special desserts at locations like Plaza Inn and Rancho del Zocalo.
