Restaurant Review: Surah Korean BBQ!

As many of you know I am a huge fan of Korean BBQ. I have to go to All You Can Eat (AYCE) places to get my fill of the various proteins that are available. I had been hearing a lot about this place in Buena Park that served mostly Kobe Beef and it's American equivalent Wagyu.  I finally got to go to Surah Korean BBQ in Buena Park the other night to try them out.
The price is a great value for Kobe Beef and Wagyu! Please note that if you go on Saturdays you have to go with a minimum of three people in order to do the AYCE! Trust me you will need the support to get through as many of the amazing offerings they have here!
You can order a delicious bowl of fish eggs over rice. They are so brightly colored that I thought it was shaved ice.
There are so many side dishes that they bring out to you and happily refill! Here are some of my favorites! The baby clams are so good and spicy that I could not stop eating them!
The pickled baby bok choy was so good!
I love tempura cucumbers!
Bean sprouts are one of my favorites!
Daikon kim chi is one of my all-time favorite kim chi's!
Traditional cabbage kim chi is another kim chi favorite of mine!
But the real reason I was here was for the meat! Check out the beautifully marbleized Kobe Beef brisket! Each piece cooks up fast as it is so thinly shaved and the meat is so soft it literally feels like it is melting in your mouth!
These are the Kobe Beef rib fingers! These finger sized cuts of Kobe Beef are also super tender and flavorful! You can really taste the quality of the beef here!
This is the marinated short rib! This is so coveted that you can only get one order per person even with the AYCE! The meat is so flavorful and tender that you can see why there is only one order per person. You would never stop ordering this if you were allowed to! Yes, it is really that good! So make sure you order it early in your meal because this is one you do not want to miss out on!
This is the beef tenderloin that you are also limited to one order for every two people. The meat is so tender as well!
The duck can only be ordered as your last order since they give you a different grill to cook on. But once you order the duck you can order as much as you want! I am a huge fan of duck and you don't see it at most other AYCE Korean BBQ places! The fat adds so much flavor to the meat! Such a great way to end your meal!

So come hungry and bring friends who are just as hungry as you! The quality of the Kobe Beef and the Wagyu will keep you coming back! Great service plus a relatively quiet dining experience are two more huge pluses!

Review of Gyu-Kaku's All-You-Can-Eat, All-You-Can-Drink Lunch

An All-You-Can-Eat and All-you-Can-Drink place? Sign me up! Oh and it's only $20 a person as well!
I love the decor and design of the place!

The sauces you can use to dip the grilled meat in! Believe it or not, I didn't use any of these sauces because the meat had so much flavor on it's own!
Fried calamari! One of my favorites!
Just part of the lunch time options! Japanese BBQ is just like Korean BBQ! You cook your own! Don't worry if you're scared about cooking your own food, the wait staff provides instructions on how long to cook each item!
The rest of the lunch time options! So all of the grilling options for the all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink lunch special include: bistro harami, gyu-tan, kalbi chuck, garlic shrimp, yakishabu, toro beef, chicken tenders and spicy pork. I'm not ashamed to tell you that my friend and I had two of each!
The amazing garlic noodles! We had two bowls of this!
Inside one of the foil items was sweet potatoes and the other had garlic spinach! Amazing!
Champagne was a drinking option!
Cold sake was another drinking option, as was hot sake! The best part is that you can have all three if you so choose!
And there were several ice cream choices as well! There was kona coffee, vanilla, green tea, black sesame and blueberry cheesecake. My friend wanted the lychee sorbet that wasn't offered and he asked our waitress and she brought him out some!
An absolutely incredible experience! We definitely ate and drank more than our fill! So much in fact, that we didn't eat for the rest of the day! This place quickly fills up, so arrive early! They open at 1130am and Happy hour starts at that same time! Also, there are rule and restrictions to keep in mind. They are as follows:

RULES & RESTRICTIONS:
All You Can Eat Rules: Whole party must order the same course. Only 2 item refills will be
served per person at a time. All orders served must be grilled before the next order may be
placed. There is a 90 minute limit on ordering which starts when your first order is placed.
All parties will be given a last call for order 15 minutes prior to their 90 minute ordering time
frame. All uneaten refills will be charged to your bill at regular a la carte menu prices. This
will be judged at Manager’s discretion. We will not provide to-go boxes for any leftover food.
Substitutions for BBQ items not included in the course will not be provided.

Don't worry if you can't remember all of these because the incredible wait staff will go over all of the rules with you!

I cannot wait to go back! Who is with me?

Review of Cham Soot Gol Korean BBQ

I was really craving Korean BBQ around midnight a few nights ago! I found a place called Cham Soot Gol Korean BBQ in Buena Park! This place is open until 130am on Fridays and Saturdays. The rest of the week they are open until midnight! This restaurant is a new favorite! There is a sister restaurant in Garden Grove but they close at 10pm every night!

They offer a full menu as well as two all-you-can-eat options! My friend and I opted for the $16.99 option! You get all the banchan, side dishes you can eat! You also get your choice of five different meat options. You can order as much of the sliced pork belly, thin sliced beef brisket, marinated spicy pork, bulgogi, and marinated chicken!

Take a look at the banchan! We made our way through two or more bowls of each banchan! You have to ask for rice but it's also included in the cost!

Here is the first order of meat! The bulgogi was tender and flavorful! Very similar to Japanese beef teriyaki in terms of flavor and texture! One of my favorite meats!

We also ordered the thin sliced beef brisket! I had my reservations since it was freeze dried like mongolian bbq but this meat cooked up fast and had a lot of taste by itself.

You also get your choice of a soup to go with your meal! You can choose from an egg pot, bean paste stew or tofu soup! I went with the tofu soup! Lots of tofu in a spicy soup base! I would gladly eat this all day long!

For dessert, there is hand scooped ice cream! You can scoop as much ice cream as you want and this is all-you-can-eat as well!

Great food, great service, great hours and low cost make this a wonderful place for Korean BBQ! I can't wait to return with more friends to take care of that late night Korean BBQ craving!

Review of Beach Pit BBQ

All You Can Eat St. Louis Ribs? You had me at the word ALL! I took a few friends last night to Beach Pit BBQ and we all did the Wednesday Night special. The ribs came with slaw and two sides for $15.95. I chose my usual fries as one of the sides. The other side was the delicious blueberry cornbread. It comes nice and warm and is like a blueberry muffin. I could easily eat a whole pan of this! The slaw is really good using a light vinegar based dressing which I love so much more than the typical mayo based. And the ribs were outstanding as the meat just fell off the bone! Not oily or greasy so all you taste is the meat. To get more ribs you just let you server know. The second, third or fourths or more on ribs come out without BBQ sauce but there are three tasty sauces at the table to choose from. They have a mustard based sauce, a medium sauce and a spicy sauce. All three sauces were terrific! I'll be back on Wednesdays in the near future!
