Photo Review of Universal Studios Hollywood's Transformers: The Ride!

I know what you're thinking, but yes, here I am at another theme park! I'm at Universal Studios Hollywood for their Technical Rehearsal of Transformers: The Ride!
Here is the show building for Transformers: The Ride! I have to admit, the building isn't very impressive! I  heard that they were originally going to have two life-size Audio-Animatronic figures of Optimus Prime and Megatron fighting above the entranceway. That would have been epic!
We are now making our way into N.E.S.T. (Nonbiological Extraterrestrial Species Treaty) Headquarters! Good thing the queue area makes up for the lack of theming on the outside of the building!
I love signs! Good thing we have security clearance!
In the archives you get the backstory for the attraction.

The monitors play various videos explaining the backstory.
Don't know why but I loved this trash can built into the wall!
Some of the warnings they have. Transformers: The ride has a 40 inch height requirement. Riders not 48 inches tall must be accompanied by an adult.
The AllSpark!
Scorpono's tail that was blown off during the first Transformers movie.
The queue is endless! How long of a line are they expecting?
It kind of feels like the jetway at Soarin' Over California!
Instructional video! We walked right by all the videos, I guess we could have stayed to watch! Nah, I want to ride!
This is EVAC! He is an Autobot and the vehicle that you will be taking to get out of the area! Grab your 3D glasses and jump onboard!
After saving the planet, what better way to celebrate than buying merchandise? Some of the merchandise they have! License plate frames!
Autobots versus Decepticons!
Some of the Attraction specific merchandise!
A better look at the recruiting shirt!

Love that it looks like a M*A*S*H* shirt!

The white shirt is a color changing shirt based on your body temp and the image fills in with color! More than meets the eye!
Yay for Bumblebee merchandise!

E.B. didn't want to take a picture with me! I wonder why? Oh it's because of my PIXAR hoodie!
E.B. after I told him I would get him in a PIXAR movie! Not sure how that would happen but we took this awesome photo!

A great day at Universal Studios Hollywood! Transformers: The Ride will be a big hit for people! Expect large crowds and long waits during the summer! While I still feel that Spiderman at Islands of Adventure is better, this will be a popular attraction for those that haven't been to Florida! Crystal clear HD 3D and a great ride vehicle make this for a one of a kind experience! Autobots, transform and roll out to Universal Studios Hollywood!

Scene-by-scene preview: Transformers ride at Universal Studios

The new Transformers ride has been generating positive early reviews from theme park enthusiasts and hard-core fans of the shape-shifting robots during a soft-opening preview at Universal Studios Singapore.

Set to officially debut on Saturday, the five-minute Transformers motion-simulator dark ride, with high-definition 3-D images and special effects, will feature an original story line starring the heroic Autobots and villainous Decepticons -- anthropomorphic robots capable of changing into cars, trucks and planes.

A similar version of the Transformers ride is set to open at Universal Studios Hollywood theme park in spring 2012.

Spoiler alert: What follows is a scene-by-scene preview of the new Transformers ride based on online rider reports from Singapore.

During the queue pre-show, riders are recruited to join the Autobots in an alien robot showdown with the Decepticons.

The queue winds through the NEST military base, with video screens explaining the ride's back story, and past an AllSpark containment chamber that houses a glowing module containing the source of life for all Transformers.

At the loading station, riders climb into a blue Autobot vehicle known as Evac, which explains the mission: Protect the AllSpark from the Decepticons.

Scene 1: A mechanical Decepticon tiger named Ravage grabs the AllSpark, leaps onto Evac's hood and claws at the passengers. Evac escapes by driving erratically.

Scene 2: Bumblebee, an Autobot that can transform into a Volkswagen Beetle, rescues Evac from the motorcycle-bot Sideways and entrusts the riders to protect the AllSpark. Evac flees the scene by crashing through a wall and plowing through city traffic.

Scene 3: Megatron, leader of the Decepticons, attacks Evac before the Autobots' leader, Optimus Prime, comes to the rescue. During the battle, Evac's riders narrowly escape Grindor's spinning helicopter blades.

Scene 4: Evac drives evasively as Megatron gives chase. The evil robot eventually captures Evac, who struggles and manages to break free.

Scene 5: Riders feel the heat of a tremendous explosion after Megatron fires a missile at Evac, who maneuvers to avoid the oncoming shell. Evac escapes through a hole blown in the side of a building by the missile.

Scene 6: Evac gets sucked into a whirling vortex generated by Devastator, a Decepticon created by combining several robots.

Scene 7: Sideswipe, a Lamborghini Autobot, saves Evac and the pair race through city streets battling Decepticons along the way. During the high-speed chase, Evac fires a weapon at Bonecrusher, a bulldozer Decepticon.

Scene 8: Evac manages to escape a second encounter with Devastator only to be grabbed by Starscream's grappling hook. The F-15 fighter jet Decepticon flings Evac through the air, sending the hero robot crashing into a building.

Scene 9: Optimus Prime and Megatron battle in a showdown between the alien robot leaders.

Scene 10: Autobot helicopters fire on Starscream, giving Evac a brief respite.

Scene 11: In the finale, Optimus Prime and Megatron continue their fight on top of a skyscraper. Falling from the building, Megatron pulls Evac over the edge with him and they hurtle headfirst toward street below. At the last possible moment, Bumblebee leaps up and catches Evac.

Scene 12: With Megatron defeated, Optimus Prime congratulates Evac and the rider recruits on a mission accomplished. With the ride over, Evac heads to the unloading station where the passengers disembark.

Theme Parks Summer 2012: Universal's Transformers vs Disney's Cars Land!

UNIVERSAL STUDIOS HOLLYWOOD VS. DISNEY CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE
SUMMER  2012

Hey Sasaki Time fans! It's time to discuss who will win the theme park battle next year between two Southern Californian theme parks Titans! In one corner, Universal Studios introducing Transformers: The Ride and in the other corner, Disney California Adventure with Cars Land! No matter the outcome, the winner will be us, the theme park ride junkies! Let's take a look at the contenders, starting with Universal Studios Transformers: The Ride!

Universal Studios Hollywood Transformers: The Ride

When this was announced in October 2008, I know a lot of fanboys and girls that couldn't believe that a Transformers attraction was finally going to be built!

In April 2010, both Backdraft and and the Special Effects Stages closed to make way for this new attaraction. Speculation is that it will utilize the ride system that is being used on The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man attraction at Universal's Islands of Adventure theme park in Orlando. If you haven't seen The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man attraction take a look at the behind the scenes video below:

Pretty amazing right? Can you imagine how Transformers will be when you combine this technology with audio-animatronic figures? Universal is already calling this the greatest attraction ever built and this comes after their incredible Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey attraction. Universal has said that the Transformers: The Ride queue is 30 minutes of story to immerse you into what is happening before you get onto the attraction. Let's take a look at some of the conceptual artwork for the queue below:

Transformers: The Ride is expected to open in Spring of 2012.

Disney California Adventure Cars Land:

As part of a massive $1.3 billion makeover, is Cars Land, a 12 acre new land to Disney California Adventure. This brings an end to the "extreme theme park makeover" as I like to call it.

Cars Land brings the town of Radiator Springs from the movie Cars and Cars 2 to life. You will find all the stores and restaurants that you love and three brand new attractions.  The attractions are Luigi's Flying Tires, Mater's Junkyard Jamnboree, and Radiator Springs Racers.

Take a look at the concept art for Luigi's Flying tires:

Here is Mater's Junkyard Jamboree:

This is one of the vehicle's for Mater's:

The grand mega E-ticket is Radiator Springs Racers:

Here I am standing in front of one of the ride vehicles for Radiator Springs Racers!

Here is some ride testing video of Radiator Springs Racers:

Take a look at some of the construction of Cars Land:

I cannot wait to turn on this high bank!

This is going to become Flo's V8 Cafe!

Remember The Cozy Cone Motel? Well this will actually be a snack stand and each cone will serve a different snack. One may serve pop"cone" for instance!

Check out Cadillac Range!

Cars Land is expected to open in Summer 2012.

It will be an epic summer for theme park fans! I cannot wait to ride all the new attractions and check out the new areas!  Who do you think will have the best new attraction of 2012? Tell me which new attraction are you looking forward to!
