Haunted Mansion Holiday 2016 Additions - Sally Finally Makes Her Appearance!!! #halloweentime

One of my favorite things to look forward to during Halloween Time at The Disneyland Resort besides all of the new food and merchandise offerings is The Haunted Mansion Holiday layover! One of the best things to happen to Disneyland each and every year and this year is no exception!

Look at the photo above and feast your eyes on the beautiful Sally! Long rumored to be making her appearance in the Mansion for years now, she has finally decided to make her presence known! That look of longing as she stares at her handsome Jack Skellington and yet she is ready to hide so he doesn't see her. A wonderful job by the amazing folks at Walt Disney Imagineering!

And every year also brings us an amazing gingerbread house in the ballroom scene! Take a look at this year's masterpiece!

How many of you also love Haunted Mansion Holiday? And even more important, when do you get to see this amazing part of the Holidays? Leave your comments below!

Haunted Mansion Holiday (2014) in Black and White Photos

Take a black and white photo tour of Disneyland's Haunted Mansion Holiday. This is the 13th year of the transformation into Jack Skellington's vision of the holiday...
The stately mansion looks so festive this time of the year...
The scarecrow uh scare pumpkin man looks like he is ready to jump off his stand...
We are now in the hallway as we make our way towards the doombuggies...
You may have noticed that the paintings are changing. Your mind is not playing tricks on you...
Someone is always watching you...
The loading area looks so festive this time of year...
Zero get the present that he has wanted most...
Beware the man-eating plant...
Madame Leota will tell you tale of the thirteen days of Christmas...
The ballroom is looking very festive as well...
The yearly gingerbread creation is made of actual gingerbread...
In the attic, not only will you find tons of presents, but also the list of who has been naughty or nice according to our dear old Sandy Claws...
Out of the attic and down towards the graveyard...
Jack and Zero are both here to greet us...
The singing jack-o-lanterns are one of my personal favorites...
Hark, the scary angels sing...
Oogie is here...
We receive two ginger skeleton men...
Hurry back, hurry back....

It's always fun to see what happens when two holidays collide...

Craft Time: Jack Skellington Halloween String Garland

What You'll Need
White cotton string
Black felt
Water balloons
Liquid fabric starch
Regular paper or cardstock
Scissors
How To Make It
  • 1
Blow up your water balloons so they are about 4 inches wide and tie off the ends.
  • 2
Cut the white cotton string into long lengths, about 5 feet long. You can always cut more.
  • 3
Print the template then cut out the eyes, nose, and mouth and trace them onto the black felt. Cut out the pieces. You will need a pair of eyes, a nose, and a mouth for each Jack Skellington string ball you wish to make.
  • 4

Pour liquid starch into a bowl. Place your balloon into the bowl. Dip the ends of your 5 foot white string into the bowl and wrap the string around your balloon, soaking the string in the starch before you wrap. Add more lengths of white string. Once the balloon resembles a very messy spider web, hang the balloon up to dry. Place paper towels or craft paper under the balloons as they will drip.
  • 5

Cut a piece of string about a foot long and tie one end to the end of the balloon. (You will use this string to hang your balloon so it can dry).
  • 6

Repeat this process with each Jack Skellington String Ball you wish to add to your garland.
  • 7
Once all the string balls are dry, pop the balloons and pull them out through a gap in the string. Glue on a pair of eyes, a mouth, and a nose to each string ball. Tie them to a long ribbon, yarn, or string garland, evenly spacing them. Cut off extra string after you have tied them into place.

Jack Skellington Cupcakes Recipe!

What you'll need

  • Batch of chocolate cupcakes
  • White buttercream frosting
  • 2 toothpicks
  • Tube of black decorator's icing

How to make it

  1. Frost the cupcakes.
  2. For each cupcake, use the tip of a toothpick to lightly etch the outline of two large Jack Skellington eyes in the frosting.
  3. Slowly pipe black decorator's icing onto the etched lines and then fill in the inner circles. Use another toothpick to spread and smooth the icing.
  4. Pipe on two short lines for a nose. Next, pipe a long line across the bottom of the cupcake for the mouth. For the finishing spooky touch, randomly top the mouth with a bunch of short icing barbs.

Review - Second Screen Live: The Nightmare Before Christmas!

One of my favorite movies has been brought back in a completely fun and interactive way! The Nightmare Before Christmas has added Second Screen Live for the iPad!

My friend Daisy and I are already veterans of Second Screen Live having gone to check out The Little Mermaid last month when they were offering this unique way of "breaking the rules" to use our iPads to play games, trivia and sing-a-long in real time with the movie! This time however we also brought some friends! This is such a great way to have fun with your friends and everyone else in the theatre!
We are just about ready to start!

The games are harder than they were for The Little Mermaid but I figure this is because the audience is an older one for The Nightmare Before Christmas!
An example of one of the trivia questions!

Another one of the games we get to play during the movie!
It's sing-a-long time! It's ok to sing as loud as you can!

Just like The Little Mermaid you are placed on a team! I was on the Jack Skellington Team! We were easily in the lead for the entire movie!

More fun games to play and earn points!
Time to roll the dice!
I didn't hit the jackpot on this version of slots!
I was the winner! We had such a great time and can't wait to do this again! I hope Disney adds this to more of their animated movies! If they do I will be in line each and every time!

So, bring your iPad, download the app (Download the Second Screen Live: The Nightmare Before Christmas app (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/disney-second-screen-live/id705337245?ls=1&mt=8) and head to these select theaters for this fun, interactive movie experience!
