DISNEY+ DAY KICKS OFF GLOBAL CELEBRATION WITH WEEK-LONG, COMPANY-WIDE PROMOTIONS

 


BURBANK, Calif. (November 8, 2021) – Ahead of Disney+ Day this Friday, November 12, The Walt Disney Company announced new company-wide promotions and additional content premiering this Friday to kick off the celebration of the Disney+ global community. To thank fans for their support over the past two years, Disney+ subscribers can enjoy special benefits including additional time at Disney Parks around the world, shopDisney deals, access to fan-favorite content, exclusive first-looks on platform, and more. Fans can also follow along with @DisneyPlus on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram this Friday at 6:00am PT for exciting first looks at upcoming Disney+ movies and series. For those looking to join the Disney+ community, starting today through Sunday, November 14, new and eligible returning subscribers can get one month of Disney+ for $1.99.

Celebrations from Disney Parks, Experiences and Products

 

In celebration of Disney+ Day, Disney+ subscribers with a valid ticket or pass and theme park reservation on November 12 will enjoy special benefits across Disney theme parks, with some surprises in store as well. Disney+ subscribers are invited with their travel party to enter the theme parks at the Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort 30 minutes before the parks open. For even more fanfare, Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Park will roll out the blue carpet for guests with character moments, photo opportunities and more. Subscribers will also enjoy complimentary Disney PhotoPass photo download(s) taken at select locations.

 

Disneyland Paris will also roll out the blue carpet at Walt Disney Studios for guests to celebrate with special character appearances and photo opportunities throughout the day. The park will extend its operating hours by 30 minutes for guests to enjoy as the Tower of Terror illuminates the night in Disney+ blue.

 

ShopDisney will offer free shipping in the U.S. and Europe from November 12 to November 14 to subscribers of Disney+. Also starting today in the U.S., and for a limited time, shopDisney will be rolling out new customizable products from Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel including short sleeve and long sleeve T-shirts for kids and adults from Disney+ favorites: “Raya and the Last Dragon,” “Luca,” “Star Wars: The Bad Batch,” and “Loki.”

 

Disney Publishing Worldwide will offer select $0.99 eBooks today through November 17. Fans can discover the stories behind their favorite Disney+ series, including “Loki,” “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” and “The Mandalorian.”

 

Disney and VeVe, the largest mobile-first digital collectible platform, have announced a collaboration to launch a series of NFTs featuring beloved and iconic characters from some of its fan-favorite properties. “Golden Moments,” gives fans the opportunity to purchase digital golden statues inspired by stories from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and The Simpsons. New digital collectibles were available daily starting November 7 and will culminate on Disney+ Day, with a special Ultra Rare digital collectible.


Disney will team up with Funko to offer an exclusive 10% off Disney+ products from November 12 to November 14 on Funko.com and in their two retail locations, Funko HQ located in Everett, Washington and Funko Hollywood, located in Los Angeles, California. Additionally, Disney will team up with Target to host in-store activations on November 12 through November 14 in almost 800 Target stores across the U.S. as part of a joint commitment to create new experiences for guests. Target shoppers will have the ability to sign up for the Disney+ Day offer and receive special giveaways.

 

From November 12 through November 14, more than 200 AMC Theatres will celebrate Disney+ Day with four daily surprise screenings of fan-favorite movies. Each movie will feature a surprise short, and guests won’t know which movie is being shown until the screening begins. Tickets for these surprise screenings are $5 each, and guests will receive a free Disney+ poster and a special concession offer with their ticket purchase.  A list of participating AMC locations can be found here.

 

Celebrations on Disney Networks

 

Disney’s network shows and syndicated series will join in the celebration all week long with Disney+ Day takeovers, talent shout-outs, and special show integrations.

 

Fans can find out what their favorite on-air talent from the Disney-owned networks are streaming on Disney+ in a series of spots featuring Anthony Anderson and his mother Doris Hancox (“To Tell The Truth”), Kelly Ripa (“Live! with Kelly & Ryan”), and Jesse James Keitel (“Big Sky”) on ABC; Yara Shahidi & Trevor Jackson (“Grown-ish”) on Freeform; Peyton Manning (ESPN+ “Peyton’s Places”) with his daughter Mosley along with NBA stars Brook & Robin Lopez on ESPN; Albert Lin (“Lost Cities with Albert Lin”) and Bear Grylls (“Running Wild with Bear Grylls”) on National Geographic; Sarah Paulson (“American Horror Story”) on FX; and Kat Dennings (“Dollface”) and Tamera Mowry-Housley (“Baker’s Dozen”) on Hulu.

 

Audiences can watch for exclusive Disney+ Original spots tonight during ESPN’s “Monday Night Countdown” and “Monday Night Football,” test their trivia in a Disney+ category in “Jeopardy!” on Friday, and tune-in this week for special Disney+ Day integrations and in-show mentions in “Dancing With The Stars,” “General Hospital,” “Live! With Kelly and Ryan,” “Wheel of Fortune,” “Tamron Hall,” “The View,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” “Stephen A’s World,” “NFL Live,” “NBA Today”, “SportsNation,” and more.

 

The celebration will extend to local communities via ABC’s Owned TV Stations with original programming dedicated to Disney+ Day including special episodes of “Localish” and “On The Red Carpet.” Also, “Good Morning America” will celebrate live from Times Square on November 12 with special guests from Disney+ shows and spotlights on the coast-to-coast celebrations at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort.

On Friday November 12 at 6:00am PT, fans can follow along with @DisneyPlus on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram for first looks, new trailers, exclusive clips, and appearances from Disney+ creators and stars for upcoming content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and in select international territories, Star.

 

Disney+ subscribers will also be treated to exclusive on-platform specials from Pixar Animation Studios premiering at 8:00am PT and from Marvel Studios premiering at 8:45am PT, and other surprise sneak peeks.

 

Additional new and beloved fan-favorite content will make their Disney+ streaming debuts on November 12, including:

 

  • A new documentary titled “The Making of Happier than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles” about Billie Eilish’s recent Disney+ cinematic concert experience
  • Marvel Assembled: The Making of Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings,” a docu-special chronicling the creation of the recent Marvel Studios’ theatrical release
  • Marvel Studios Legends: Hawkeye,” an episode that revisits all of Hawkeye’s epic moments from the MCU in preparation for the upcoming Disney+ Original Series
  • The live-action/animated musical fantasy romantic comedy film “Enchanted” from 2007, starring Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey

The Walt Disney Company to Give $1.5 Million Grant to UNCF
To Help Minority Students Get To and Through College

BURBANK, CALIF. (Jan. 28, 2019)—Disney announced today that Academy Award®-nominated and SAG® winner “Black Panther” will return to the big screen to celebrate Black History Month for a one-week engagement, February 1-7, at 250 participating AMC Theatres locations. To ensure that the movie is accessible to all, tickets are free for everyone, and there will be two showings per day at each participating theater.

The Walt Disney Company will also give a $1.5 million grant to support UNCF (United Negro College Fund) in furthering its mission to help minority students access and move to and through college. For nearly 75 years, UNCF has been providing scholarships to students in need, and this grant is part of The Walt Disney Company’s longstanding commitment to diverse communities and to expanding the pipeline of talent.

“‘Black Panther’ is groundbreaking for many reasons, including the rich diversity of voices behind its success,” said Robert A. Iger, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, The Walt Disney Company.  “The story also showcases the power of knowledge to change the world for the better, and the importance of ensuring everyone has access to it.  We’re proud to provide thousands of free screenings of ‘Black Panther’ in hopes it will continue to inspire audiences, and to support UNCF with a $1.5 million grant to make the dream of higher education a reality for more students.”

“Black Panther,” the global cultural phenomenon that shattered box office records and finished first at the North American box office in 2018, picked up seven Oscar® nominations, including Best Picture, Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, Best Original Music Score, Best Original Song, Best Sound Mixing and Best Sound Editing.  On Sunday, it was announced that “Black Panther” won the SAG® (Screen Actors Guild) Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture Award.

“Almost a year ago, movie-lovers were transported to Wakanda, and the guest response to ‘Black Panther’ was unlike anything our industry has seen before,” said Adam Aron, CEO and President of AMC. “AMC is excited this best-picture nominated film is once again accessible on the big screen at AMC. ‘Marvel’s The Avengers’ Marathon Event Sold Out at AMC Theatres!


AMC Theatres announced today that it's Marvel Marathon is sold out and will be adding more shows at participating locations. The May 3rd event will feature 6 Marvel movies including the May 4th midnight release of Marvel’s The Avengers in RealD 3D. Price is $40 for the marathon of movies, an event lanyard, and maybe a pair of limited-edition Avenger character RealD 3D glasses if supplies last.

The advance tickets for what’s billed as ’The Ultimate Marvel Marathon’ sold out at 10 AMC locations across the country a month ahead of the event: AMC Empire 25, New York AMC Downtown Disney 24, Orlando AMC Sunset Place 24, Miami AMC Downtown Disney 12, Los Angeles AMC Burbank 16, Los Angeles AMC Ontario Mills 30, Los Angeles AMC Loews Boston Common 19, Boston AMC Garden State 16, New Jersey AMC Loews Metreon 16, San Francisco AMC Courtney Park 16, Toronto.

The 6 Marvel movies which begin playing at 11:30 AM are (in order): Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor (presented in RealD 3D), Captain America: The First Avenger (presented in RealD 3D), and Marvel’s The Avengers. AMC operates 347 theatres with 5,048 screens across the United States and Canada.
