"FINDING DORY" Welcomes Low-Vision and Blind Audiences to the Movie Theater for Groundbreaking Experience

“FINDING DORY” WELCOMES LOW-VISION AND BLIND AUDIENCES
TO THE MOVIE THEATER FOR GROUNDBREAKING EXPERIENCE

Audio Descriptive Narration Available in Theaters for the First Time
Via Disney Movies Anywhere App

BURBANK, Calif. (June 16, 2016) – As Disney•Pixar’s “Finding Dory” swims into theaters this week, low-vision and blind fans are invited to enjoy the film alongside family members in theaters, thanks to a breakthrough in independent moviegoing. Smart-syncing audio description, a new feature introduced to in-home audiences four months ago on the Disney Movies Anywhere (DMA) app, heads to theaters nationwide for the first time with the release of “Finding Dory.” Accessed via one’s own iPhone® or iPad® and a set of ear buds, the feature provides users with free audio description that elegantly narrates important on-screen action for those who can’t always follow along visually.

More than 21 million people in the United States are blind or visually impaired. While all feature films include a track for the blindness community, until now, these tracks have been accessible only by utilizing special gear provided by a limited number of individual theaters. The DMA app, downloaded via iTunes onto an iPhone® or iPad® running iOS 7 or above, accesses the mobile device’s microphone to “listen” to the big-screen presentation and syncs the audio descriptions accordingly so users can hear both the descriptive narrative and the film’s original audio. Pixar has invited members of the visually impaired community to focus group screenings for more than eight years in an effort to craft the narration in the most effective and enjoyable manner possible.

Earlier this week, FCC chairman Tom Wheeler included Disney Movies Anywhere among five winners of its Advancement in Accessibility Award, which recognizes achievements in communications technology for those with disabilities.

“Finding Dory” is the 17th Disney•Pixar film to feature the complimentary audio accessibility via the DMA app, which is currently only available in the U.S. Audio synchronization technology is provided by Audible Magic.

ABOUT THE MOVIE
Disney•Pixar's “Finding Dory” welcomes back to the big screen everyone’s favorite forgetful blue tang Dory (voice of Ellen DeGeneres), who’s living happily in the reef with Marlin (voice of Albert Brooks) and Nemo (voice of Hayden Rolence). When Dory suddenly remembers that she has a family out there who may be looking for her, the trio takes off on a life-changing adventure across the ocean to California’s prestigious Marine Life Institute, a rehabilitation center and aquarium. In an effort to find her mom (voice of Diane Keaton) and dad (voice of Eugene Levy), Dory enlists the help of three of the MLI’s most intriguing residents: Hank (voice of Ed O’Neill), a cantankerous octopus who frequently gives employees the slip; Bailey (voice of Ty Burrell), a beluga whale who is convinced his biological sonar skills are on the fritz; and Destiny (voice of Kaitlin Olson), a nearsighted whale shark. Deftly navigating the complex inner workings of the MLI, Dory and her friends discover the magic within their flaws, friendships and family.

Directed by Andrew Stanton (“Finding Nemo,” “WALL•E”), co-directed by Angus MacLane (“Toy Story OF TERROR!”), and produced by Lindsey Collins (co-producer “WALL•E”), Disney•Pixar's  “Finding Dory” swims into theaters June 17, 2016. Thumbs Up Wine Mobile App and Villa Alena Moscato d'Asti Review!

Are you one of those kind of people who stand in front of a large display of wine and wonder what you should you get? You look at all the bottles until you find a bottle and a price point that you like and that is the one you purchase? Well, the new Thumbs Up Wine Finder App is going to change all that! Take a look at the video below for a demo on how the app works!

It's literally that easy to use!

The app is available for both Android and iOS as a free version or a premium $4.99 version! In the free version you can search for wines while in a store or browse when you aren't. When you find a favorite you can save it and have it at your fingertips when you need a wine.

The search allows you to search for a wine by the store you are in, what you want to pair with it, pricepoint, country of origin and more! Once you have discovered a wine you like, you can take a look at it's rating (either two thumbs up or all the way to two thumbs down), tasting notes, suggested food pairings, value and the average retail price. The value is great because it tells you if the wine is worth more or less than it's suggested retail price. You will also find a summary of the wine, a video review for many of the wines, a place for you to rate the wine and an easy way to share the wine you find with friends! You can also see where to buy the wine and also see a great high resolution photo of the bottle to make it easier to find while at the store!
I was also sent a bottle of Villa Alena Moscato d'Asti to try. This wine is listed as two thumbs up on the app! I am a big fan of Moscato and couldn't believe that this wine costs only $7 a bottle or less but the value is listed as a $16 bottle of wine!

It is a delicious sweet wine that tastes like crisp apples with brown sugar. It tasted like Fall! I already saved it to my wine list on the app! Yes, it is that good! I checked and the app tells me that I can find it at Trader Joe's! You better believe that I will be on my way there soon to pick up another bottle or two!

Download the Thumbs Up Wine Finder App
iPhone
Android

*Disclosure:  I was sent a bottle of wine and a premium download code to purchase the Thumbs Up Wine App. This is my personal opinion of the product.*

World of Warcraft coming to the iPhone?

Redmond Pie is reporting that Blizzard is determined to bring their World of Warcraft game to the iPhone! Senior WoW producer John Lagrave, told gaming blog Eurogamer:

"We won’t do it until we think it’s decent. But it’s interesting and the world is evolving towards that little handheld device – I’d have fun on it, that’s absolutely the case. It would be foolish for any game developer to not be looking at that and we’re not – we don’t think- we’re foolish!"

Understandable, and their desire for quality over shipping a product quickly is admirable. Porting something like WoW to the iPhone is very tricky. Which elements do you omit? Is it even possible to port enough over to make it a cross-platform game where smartphone players can interact with PC players? How do you design the controls where the game is easily playable? There are many usability and technical limitations – especially if they’re trying to do something really big, involving a port of the fully-functional game – but surely the team are going to think of something. If they need screen estate for such a port, then perhaps tablets like the iPad would be more suitable.

That being said, the team are still mulling about what exactly they should be doing in this regard."When we have an epiphany, everyone will know," stated Lagrave. "But for now, no epiphany!"
While the game has not been ported to mobile devices in any form, Blizzard does currently have a WoW app available for mobile devices and the web to assist WoW players that allows you to check auctions, look up PvP gear, create talent specs, and access the armory. Aptly dubbed the World of Warcraft Mobile Armory, the app will allow you to access all of these things on the fly in the rare occasion that you’re not in front of a PC or Mac.
So, Blizzard are certainly eager to get WoW on mobile devices as soon as possible, but they also want to do it right.

AIRE mask: Breathe to charge your iPhone

Joao Paulo Lammaglia has come up with a way to charge your iPhone and be environmentally friendly all at the same time. Imagine using the power of your breath to recharge your iPhone. Just put in the mask, connect your iPhone and your breath is converted into energy by small wind turbines.

The AIRE mask can be used both indoors or outdoors. You can wear it while sleeping or walking. It may even encourage using it while exercising since the heavier you breath, the more power you generate.

The AIRE won a RedDot Design Award: Best of the Best in 2011.

Disney Mobile Magic App Now on the iPhone!

That’s right, Mobile Magic, the first official Disney Parks app, has hit the iPhone and it’s now ready for you to download for free from iTunes.

And Disney Parks and Verizon have another exciting update to share today. If you’re a Verizon Wireless customer, you now have access to new premium features, including videos and games within the app.

Also, there are GPS-enabled park maps to get you to your favorite characters, mobile games and more to explore, including the ability to make dining reservations.

Not an iPhone user? Disney Mobile Magic is also available on a wide variety of feature phones as well as Android phones.

Disney Memories App offers Virtual Character Interaction to Times Square and Other Locations!

From Stitch Kingdom:
http://www.stitchkingdom.com/disney-parks-memories-app-android-iphone-18549/

The free Disney Memories app allows you to super-impose one of several Disney stamps (such as park icons, character hats, or park balloons) over your device’s camera’s preview window so you can use your finger to position the stamp as well as the camera itself so that it appears the stamp interacts with your photo’s subject. For example, it will allow you to virtually place Mickey ears on a loved one’s head, helping to bring the Disney Parks experience home. You can also choose from a selection of Disney Parks borders for the photo.

Once you take the photo, you can then share it with friends and families through several options including email, SMS/MMS, Twitter and Facebook. No matter how you share it, the recipient(s) will get a link to a private Disney Memories site that will show off your Disney Memories creation. Note that there is no option to directly save your photo to the device for quality assurance reasons, as it contains copyrighted content.

The magic doesn’t end there, however. At the Disney Store in Times Square, the unlock feature uses your device’s GPS functionality to recognize where you are and unlocks special virtual character meet and greet experiences. Instead of just the stamps, you’ll have the ability to superimpose a character to pose with the person whose photo you’re taking. At launch, characters include Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Tiana, Rapunzel, Captain Hook and Stitch with perhaps more on the way. Best of all, you don’t have to go to New York City for the unlocked feature, you can visit one of several select movie theaters nationwide — just look for a special standee at the theater or try out the app there. Exclusive to Times Square, however, is a special Disney Store Times Square photo frame.

To celebrate the launch, Disney Parks and Resorts is hosting a special outdoor virtual experience only at the Disney Store Times Square, today and tomorrow. Guests can visit the store and stand at a special location (across the street, in the pedestrian area) and virtually interact with one of many Disney characters in an augmented reality experience. Guests who visit the experience will also receive a free pair of Disney Store Mickey ears (while supplies last).

Although the virtual outdoor experience is only for Friday and Saturday, the indoor experience with your Android (and soon Apple) phone will continue to be available. So next time you plan on visiting Disney Store Times Square (or one of the select movie theaters) be sure to first download the free Disney Memories app for your Android or Apple phone to add a dose of even more magic to your experience.

iOS 5 has arrived! What's new? What's cool?

Hey Sasaki Time fans! I just downloaded and installed the new iOS 5 for my iPhone and I love it! I am going to give all of you a quick rundown on some of my favorite features!

1. Notification Center
My favorite new feature is Notification Center. New notifications appear briefly at the top of your screen.
At last, Apple will get rid of the annoying popups that interrupted you while you were doing anything on the iPhone. It not only does Notification Center includes app notification, but widgets that show information such as the weather. The notifications extend to the lock screen too, so you can see more stuff right away without unlocking your phone. For those of you that jailbreak think of it as Apple's version of intelliscreen. Sliding your finger on it will automatically lead you to the app that generated that notification. Notification Center clearly destroys the old pop-up mess we had since day one of the iPhone. Well done and about time Apple!

2. iMessage
My next favorite feature, is a new messaging system called iMessage. It works between all iOS 5 devices, allowing you to leave conversations on your iPhone and continue them in your iPad. It comes with delivery notification as well. However, it doesn't work with other non-iOS devices. Another reason for people to just buy Apple products. If most of your friends are on iOs devices, then there would be no need to buy a SMS or MMS package.

3.Twitter integration
And do I mean Twitter integration everywhere! You will are able to use your to directly post the image to Twitter. The YouTube App, Safari or even Maps will support direct sharing in Twitter. It also adds a new Twitter address field to your Contacts application.

4. new camera app and photos
The new Camera app gets two of the most-requested features of the iOS. The first is a shortcut in the lock screen to access the camera right away, so you don't have to unlock and then click on the Camera icon, which often makes you lose the moment. Just double tap the home button to get the camera icon to come up on the lockscreen slider. The other one, is using one of the volume buttons as the shutter button. Just press + and that's it: CLICK! Thank you again Apple! The new app also includes basic photo editing. It includes quick enhance—which basically sharpens your image, making shadows and highlights more detailed, and correct color automatically. It also include red eye reduction and cropping Both of these are features that I wanted. So once again thank you Apple!

There are hundreds more features that have been added. Please feel free to share yours! Until then, I'm off to check out whatever other features I can find on iOS5!

What is Apple Announcing on October 4th?

We all know that Apple is holding a media event on the 4th. But what is it for? New ipods? Probably. A new iPhone or iPhones? Hopefully!

Will the new iPhone be a iPhone 4S or will it actually be an iPhone 5? And if it is an iPhone 5, what will it look like? Will it have a bigger screen like the mockup below?

Will it be thinner than the iPhone 4 which is already the thinnest smartphone on the market? Will it be as thin as the mockup below?

Are the cases that have allegedly been shown coming into AT&T stores the real deal so there will be an iPhone 5? Is this the real iPhone 5 shown in the photos below?

So much speculation I can't wait until the 4th and the Apple Media Event! How do I get to go to one of these things anyways?
