HALLE BAILEY’S PERFORMANCE OF PART OF YOUR WORLD FROM DISNEYLAND

The singer-actress, who stars as Ariel in the upcoming live-action film, performed the song for hundreds of fans in front of Sleeping Beauty’s castle at the Disneyland Resort. A new featurette on Bailey is available now as well. The Little Mermaid,” helmed by visionary filmmaker Rob Marshall, opens exclusively in theaters nationwide May 26, 2023.

“The Little Mermaid” is the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea and, while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden from interacting with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy. The film stars singer and actress Halle Bailey (“grown-ish”) as Ariel; Jonah Hauer-King (“A Dog’s Way Home”) as Eric; Tony Award® winner Daveed Diggs (“Hamilton”) as the voice of Sebastian; Awkwafina (“Raya and the Last Dragon”) as the voice of Scuttle; Jacob Tremblay (“Luca”) as the voice of Flounder; Noma Dumezweni (“Mary Poppins Returns”) as The Queen; Art Malik (“Homeland”) as Sir Grimsby; with Oscar® winner Javier Bardem (“No Country for Old Men”) as King Triton; and two-time Academy Award® nominee Melissa McCarthy (“Can You Ever Forgive Me?” “Bridesmaids”) as Ursula.

“The Little Mermaid” is directed by Oscar® nominee Rob Marshall (“Chicago,” “Mary Poppins Returns”) with a screenplay by two-time Oscar nominee David Magee (“Life of Pi,” “Finding Neverland”). The songs feature music from multiple Academy Award® winner Alan Menken (“Beauty and the Beast,” “Aladdin”) and lyrics by Howard Ashman, and new lyrics by three-time Tony Award® winner Lin-Manuel Miranda. The film is produced by two-time Emmy® winner Marc Platt (“Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert,” “Grease Live!”), Miranda, two-time Emmy winner John DeLuca (“Tony Bennett: An American Classic”), and Rob Marshall, with Jeffrey Silver (“The Lion King”) serving as executive producer.

The “Part of Your World” single is available at Apple MusicAmazon MusicSpotifyYouTube Music and the visualizer video can be seen on YouTube. The brand new soundtrack for Disney’s “The Little Mermaid,” set for release on May 19, is available now to pre-add at Apple Music, for pre-order on vinyl at Disney Music Emporium and for pre-order on CD

Craft Time: Belle Papercraft

Download Belle Papercraft Template

How to make it

  1. Print out your princess on regular paper or cardstock. Cut out each piece with a craft knife or scissors. Do not cut along the dashed lines -- this is where you will fold the paper.
  2. Line up Belle's back with her torso and glue them together so that the design is now two-sided. After the glue has dried, fold the bottom part of Belle's torso towards you along the brown dashed line. Then, fold Belle's face away from you on the brown dashed line across her shoulders.
  3. Take Belle's chest piece and fold along each dashed line.
  4. Spread glue on the F tab of Belle's chest and press it into place on the F area on Belle's torso. Make sure her shoulders are lined up correctly.
  5. After the glue dries, add glue to the G, H, I and J tabs and press them into place. Hold the pieces together until the glue dries. You may need to use a pen or pencil inside her chest area to position the tabs just right.
  6. Fold each of Belle's arms and glue them so that the design is two sided. Make sure they are lined up before the glue dries. Attach the arms to each side of Belle's body under each shoulder by gluing the E tab to the E area and D tab to the D area.
  7. Cut slits in the top of skirt opposite of where you fold each A tab. Fold each of the dashed lines at the top of the skirt and each A tab away from you . Starting from left to right with the yellow side of the skirt facing you, glue each A tab to the back of the skirt piece next to it to create pleats.
  8. When you are finished gluing the A tabs you may find it easier to glue the C tab to the inside of the skirt before gluing the final B tab pleat.
  9. Finally, attach Belle's completed torso to her skirt by gluing the white side of tabs K and L at her waist to the top of the skirt. The ruffe on her skirt should be in front.
