Three Broomsticks Restaurant Review: Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood

If this is your first visit to Hogsmeade, uh I mean the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood, then follow me to some of your amazing food choices at Three Broomsticks! No visit would be complete without butterbeer, a butterscotch cream soda that comes in frozen form (my personal choice) or straight up. The warm version will be served up starting April 7th.

After attending class in Hogwarts and taking on Harry Potter and The Forbidden Journey, it's time to eat! Head over to Three Broomsticks!

Amazing details and great place to eat some of the best theme park food around! The food here is English pub fare that comes in Hagrid-sized portions!

The lemon-herb roasted chicken with potatoes and a full ear of corn! The chicken is moist and tender and really flavorful. Potatoes are tasty and I had to order another ear of corn because it was so sweet.

Restaurant Review: Far East Cafe (Sacramento, CA)

One of my favorite hole in the wall Chinese food places in Sacramento is Far East Cafe. Great portions at affordable prices keep me coming back each time I visit my parents in Sacramento!

My dad usually orders the beef and tofu over rice! This is a large portion! All their orders come out quickly and hot and fresh!

My mom usually orders the Far East Special which seems like a little bit of everything over rice! You get bok choy, scallops, shrimp, bbq pork, chicken and mushrooms!

One of my favorites is the chicken and bok choy over rice! This massive portion is not only filling but delicious as well!

One of my favorite places since I lived in Sacramento and still one of my favorites to go back to when I visit! Check out Far East Cafe and get your money's worth!

Food Review: 'The Simpons' Springfield U.S.A. Area Opens at Universal Studios Hollywood!

Time to check out Springfield U.S.A., brought to life at Universal Studios Hollywood! This is The Simpsons food court! Let's see how good the food is and if it's worth your visit!

The food court area is well themed with many of the restaurants all connected indoors with the vast majority of the seating upstairs in the air-conditioning! Well done and well though out Universal!

Our first stop is the famous lad with the donuts! That's right Lard Lad Donuts!

Lard Lad Donuts offers their famous massive donuts but also these larger than regular sized donuts with all sorts of various toppings! Seen here are the Cap'n Crunch, the Fruit Loops, maple bacon and the s'more donuts! They sell four donuts for less than $12! The best one was the s'mores donut!

For lunch I stopped at Krusty Burger!

This is going to be the busiest of all the major restaurants but the line moves quickly! Duff is on tap!

I got the Sideshow Bob foot long chili dog! A 100% beef hot dog topped with chili and cheese and served with fries and cole slaw! It was really good!

I washed down the hot dog with an ice cold Duff in a souvenir plastic cup! The beer is really good. This is the regular Duff and it reminded me of a Blue Moon.

My friend went to Cletus' Chicken Shack!

Check out the awesome chicken and waffle sandwich served with slaw and fries! Some maple syrup on top of the waffle and the mayo is even mixed with some maple syrup!

And yes there is a Moe's!

Barney and I were sad that we were out of beer! Oh and yes the Love Machine behind us works!

Across from Moe's is the Duff Brewery!

You can get Duff in Regular Duff, Duff Lite or Duff Dry! I have to come back to try the other two!

Next to the Brewery is Luigi's and Phineas Q. Butterfat's Ice Cream Parlor!

This is the Mr. Teeny's Banana Delight! Bananas with banana foster sauce with soft serve vanilla and whipped cream! Amazing dessert creation!

This is the Brain Freezin' D'oh-Nut Sundae! You get a split pink sprinkled donut with vanilla or chocolate soft serve and a choice of topping I went with the strawberry sauce! So good on a warm summer day!

Lots of great food options here! Hope to be back soon to try more food items!

Hope you enjoyed this look at some of the food offerings at Springfield U.S.A. at Universal Studios Hollywood!

Restaurant Review: Roscoe's Chicken 'N Waffles in Anaheim

After months and months of eager anticipation, Roscoe's Chicken 'n Waffles has finally opened in Anaheim! The only Roscoe's in Orange County, is open for business! For people that are long-time fans such as myself or for those who are new to the Roscoe's experience let's take a look at the Anaheim location!
You can't beat a better location than right down the street from Disneyland and the Anaheim Convention Center! Business has been really good thus far and parking is at a premium!
How much of a premium you ask? Well, they are even using overflow parking at a nearby closed business.
Inside you will find several large neon signs like the one above!
So many delicious options but my favorite is the Herb's Special #3! You can never go wrong with four pieces of fried chicken and two massive waffles!
The meal is so big that you have to serve it on two plates! The fried chicken is fantastic as ever! The skin is crisp and flavorful, the meat is moist and tender! I also add some of the Red Rooster Hot Sauce to the chicken to put it over the top! Then you make your way to the waffles and all that butter and sugarcane syrup! The waffles are some of my favorite ever! There is a hint of vanilla and cinnamon I believe in the batter. The combination of the saltiness of the fried chicken and the sweetness of the waffles make for a perfect combination!
Get a closer look at that fried chicken! Doesn't that look delicious?
And here is a closer look at the waffles! Who's hungry?
The first Orange County Roscoe's is a welcomed addition to the Anaheim area. The service is fantastic and the food came out in literally a few minutes after we had ordered! If you go, arrive early or find a long wait and a lack of parking spaces. Now excuse me as I head back to get more chicken and waffles!

Media Review: Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament in Buena Park, CA

Ever wanted to see knights in armor and where a King still holds court? Well look no further than Medieval Times in Buena Park, CA!

There are nine Medieval Times locations throughout the United States but this is the only one on the west coast!

I was invited to attend a show with some of my friends! And as a native Southern California resident, I am embarrassed to say that I have never been here before! So, after this performance, would I be back for more? Let's find out!
Tickets in hand and off we go!
We paid $2 a person to check out the torture devices from medieval times! I made a new friend and even got to hold the executioners axe! I am also wearing my blue crown that indicates which section I will be in tonight!
Lil Oishi liked the interrogation chair!
It was time for a medieval drink! There is a rather large bar where they will pretty much make anything under the kingdom! They even carry drinks from Fat Tuesdays in Vegas!
Double shots for my drink as I was not driving! It was worth the extra cost for the souvenir mug! They even have a refill price during the show if you want another!
With drink in hand is was time to look at the horses!
Here is our view of the tournament! We were in the blue section, my favorite color!
My plates for dinner! Do you notice anything missing? That's right there are no utensils! Here you eat just like during medieval times! You eat with your hands!
Here is the menu for the evening! Keep in mind if you want any alcohol during the show that it is a cash only service.
The dragon's blood, or tomato bisque is the first course. Piping hot, warm and creamy made this a perfect way to start dinner!
The show has begun! They start off with two animal demonstrations. The first one is with this white horse and then the castle's falconer comes out! The falcon flies all around the tournament guests and is very cool to see!
Next comes a slice of the castle bread which is a warm piece of garlic bread!
The introductions of the knights!
Our champion for the evening, The Blue Knight! We yelled and cheered for our knight while booing all the other knights!
Lil Oishi is ready to dig into his baby dragon, a half a chicken. Tender and moist and perfectly seasoned!
A herb-basted potato and a BBQ spare rib made up the rest of the dinner entree! Both were seasoned nicely and both tasted so good! I polished off my entire plate while the tournament continued!

I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was especially for a place that is mass producing and serving a meal to hundreds of people per night! I ended up fairly full after dinner!
The knights begin to set up for jousting!
This leads us to a duel to the death! One of the coolest things I learned is that the sparks created during the fight sequences are actually created by the knights themselves by the sheer speed and power of the swords and other weapons clanging into one another!

Sadly, this is where our champion fell!
For dessert we were served a delicious apple turnover! I also got a cup of coffee! Just a perfect way to wind down from a great night of food and a very exiting tournament!
One by one the knight fall until there is one who is truly victorius!
He then challenges the threat to the kingdom!
The knight is victorious and then the threat is taken care of! The kingdom is safe once again!
Clearly a great time was had by all especially me! Too bad our knight was defeated in battle!
Lil Oishi had such a great time and cannot wait to return!
Here is what I was given for the seats and for the upgrade to the Royalty Seats!

The crown is given to anyone, but the Royalty Package includes the flag, a behidn the scenes dvd and a commemorative program!

My first experience at Medieval Times was a winner! I cannot wait to go back again! If you are looking for a good dinner, with a great show and a great way to spend a night with a bunch of great friends then look no further!

Check out the website below and they always have special deals so you never know what they will be offering!
