Snacking In The Parks: Secret Menu Chicken and Waffles from The Plaza Inn

We all know that the Plaza Inn makes some of the best friend chicken around but what would make it better? Why waffles of course! So, for a limited time, the Plaza Inn is serving chicken and waffles everyday from 12 Noon until 3 PM! Hopefully this proves popular enough to become a permanent addition to the menu! Snacking In The Parks! Chicken and Waffle Combo!

This weekend comes a menu item I wish they will keep in the parks. One of my favorite combos of chicken and waffles! So, off to the Hungry Bear Restaurant in Critter Country we go! The sign next to the beaver says it all and yes, I am hungry!

Here is the sign letting you know that something new is on the menu!

Check out the thick waffle with the awesome arugula, a nicely fried chicken breast and fries!

Even Lil Oishi is SO excited to eat!

It's time to dig in! The waffles had the great taste of honey! They weren't too sweet but just right! The chicken was moist and had a slight kick to it but it might have been from the sriracha mayonnaise. The sweet and savory combo was just perfect!

I hope they decide to keep this item on the menu!

PROTIP: If there is a food item you really like at The Disneyland Resort pass it along to the manager and also stop by City Hall at Disneyland or the Chamber of Commerce and let them know as well! It can't help to let the right people know that an item like the chicken and waffle combo should be kept on the menu!

Bruxie influences Walt Disney World's latest food items?

The new menu at Sleepy Hollow in Liberty Square in The Magic Kingdom features something new, well at least not to SoCal foodies, waffles!It looks as if Bruxie's influence has reached the Magic Kingdom!

Quoting from the article on the Disney Parks Blog:
“We saw waffle sandwiches in California and decided they’d be a perfect fit for the Magic Kingdom,” says Executive Chef Robert Adams. “Guests love them!”

For breakfast there is a prosciutto egg omelet waffle sandwich.

Lunchtime offers fried chicken with an Asian kick, creamy slaw and peppery arugula.

Fans of Nutella, the gooey, Italian hazelnut-chocolate spread, will enjoy the fruit and Nutella sandwich – strawberries and chocolate folded into a perfect sweet combo.

There is a ham and cheese version using ham, salty prosciutto and cheese.

They are considering a PB & J version next as well as a few other secret items. I wonder if we will see a pulled pork or a pastrami like at Bruxie?

Review of Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles

 
One of my favorite places to always get a great meal is Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles. There are several locations in Southern California but I keep coming back to the one in Long Beach. I went to school at Long Beach State and coming here makes me feel like being at home.

I always order the same thing, the Herb's number 3, half a chicken and two massive waffles with tons of butter and maple syrup! The meal is so big they have to serve it to me on two plates! The fried chicken is my favorite ever! It is always fresh and hot! The meat is moist and tender! The skin is not too salty but nice and crispy! Then you add some of the Red Rooster Hot Sauce on the table and that is just some of the best fried chicken ever! Then you go to the waffles that are hot, yet soft! The butter just melts instantly! They use some vanilla and cinnamon in the waffle formula I believe. Then you pour the warm maple syrup all over the waffles and it's just perfect! So, the combination of the salty fried chicken and the sweetness of the waffles is absolutely perfect for breakfast, lunch or dinner!

If you have never had the combination of chicken and waffles you should definitely try it! I've been eating here for over 16 years and it is still one of my favorite places of all-time!

Review of Mama's On 39

Hey Sasaki Food Time Fans - bringing you an exclusive first look here on sneak preview day of Mama's On 39! I have been looking forward to this day since I first saw their pictures of the food on the menu! It suggested home cooking and rules just like mom's!

First off - I love the industrial vibe of the restaurant! Steel pipes on the ceiling and wood floors! Second - the service was "Disney" quality! But let's skip that and get to the food!

Take a look at the menu:

The first page convinced me to try one of their speciality drinks. I went with the strawberry sherito - a lovely blend of fresh strawberries muddled with canton ginger liquer, soju vodka, ginger root and mint leaves. This one was dangerous! It was like a nice sweet strawberry drink. You couldn't taste the alcohol - it was blended in perfectly!

We opened up the menu and saw that there was something we had to try - the bacon biscuits with honey butter! They came out piping hot and you could just smell the bacon as you opened the biscuit - more of a muffin really - up! Then you spread some of that honey butter on and it was just perfect!

We saw that the menu looks more geared towards breakfast which is fine to us and we both went with the chicken and waffles! The waffles were bacon waffles of course and come with gravy or syrup! We both went with syrup and it's actually a citrus syrup! Quite delicious and they should sell it! Hint, hint! The waffles were perfectly cooked with a nice crispy crunch on the edges and nice and soft in the center! The chicken blew me away! Some of the best fried chicken I have ever eaten! Each bite was juicy and flavorful! Added bonus - no bones! All four pieces were boneless fried chicken perfection!

We of course saved room for dessert because I knew that they had my choldhood favorite Thrifty brand ice cream. They scoop it out for you in a cup or a cone and bring it right to your table! I had the rainbow sherbet and it brought back fond childhood memories!

We would definitely be back and hope to bring you along! Great service from an amazing staff! Thank you for the assistant managers to come on by and introduce themselves as well! We will be back with friends!
