One of my favorite events of the year is back! Bubblefest 2016 is here and celebrating its 20th Anniversary! Here my friend Lorrie and I are with master Bubble scientist Deni Yang!

This is the first year they brought all of the fun activities indoors! There is so much to do with your kids!

One of my favorite things are the hands on activities that actually teach you about different scientific principles.

Discovery Cube OC Opens New Julianne Argyros Showcase Theater with Annual Bubblefest Extravaganza

Discovery Cube Orange County Opens New Julianne Argyros Showcase Theater with Annual Spring Break Extravaganza: Bubblefest XIX

OC’s most POPular event begins March 28 and features the Mega Bubblefest Laser Show in the $1.5 million, first-of-its-kind Julianne Argyros Showcase Theater

Santa Ana, Calif. (March 9, 2015) – Discovery Cube Orange County’s most POPular event, Bubblefest, returns to the Cube March 28 through April 12, 2015. The annual festival will include the fan favorite Mega Bubblefest Laser Show, featuring star performer Deni Yang, and a variety of fun bubble activities, such as: Bubble Lagoon, Bubble Wall, Cube Jr. bubble play area, “Me in a Bubble” photo opportunity, and the best food trucks in Orange County. Special to this year’s festival is the grand opening of the $1.5 million Julianne Argyros Showcase Theater, which was generously funded by the Argyros Family Foundation. The 10,000 square-foot flexible space is a first-of-its-kind in the museum world with the ability to transform from a world-class exhibit hall to a 500 seat theater.

Inside the Julianne Argyros Showcase Theater, bubble fanatics will witness Bubble Scientist Deni Yang perform his signature bubble artistry and stunts with bubbles, smoke, lasers, and a few young volunteers from the audience. His repertoire of tricks include a bubble carousel, smoking bubbles, bubbles within bubbles, and many more. Yang has been demonstrating bubble art with his family since childhood. Through his career, he has earned international acclaim and the Guinness World Record for producing the largest bubble ever, measuring over 170 feet.

“Ambassador and Mrs. Argyros’ generous gift enables the Cube to continue to offer programs that connect real science with exciting topics to inspire children and adults throughout the community,” said Joe Adams, CEO, Discovery Science Foundation.  “Given their commitment to the children of Orange County, it is absolutely fitting that this year we are featuring our most popular signature event, Bubblefest and the Mega Bubblefest Laser Show, inside the brand new, state-of-the-art Julianne Argyros Showcase Theater.”

The Julianne Argyros Showcase Theater is a stunning climate-controlled venue, with innovative flex-space design. Designed by nationally renowned architects John Sergio Fisher & Associates, this exceptional visual and technical facility will feature digital surround-sound and state-of-the-art lighting. The Julianne Argyros Showcase Theater will serve nearly one million visitors annually and host special events, galas, lectures, science fairs and other fun community events throughout the year.

Along with the featured Mega Bubblefest Laser Show, the outdoor festival will offer hands-on exhibits and experiments to demonstrate science concepts on surface tension, elasticity, air pressure, friction and energy. These science concepts are brought to life through hands-on, soapy fun for children and parents of all ages. Guests will also enjoy a fun inflatable play zone with slides and obstacle courses.

To top off a day bursting with fun, guests visiting Bubblefest will also get to experience LEGO Travel Adventure and National Geographic Presents Earth Explorers. These two exhibits bring to life travel and adventure across the globe through interactive set pieces and exhibits.

Bubblefest XIX, which includes the Mega Bubblefest Laser Show, Water Spheres, and all outdoor activities are an additional charge of $5 for members and $7 for non-members on top of general admission to Discovery Cube Orange County. Tickets can be bought online at www.discoverycube.org or on campus at Discovery Cube OC. General admission prices are as follows: adult ($16.95), senior ($12.95), and children 3-14 ($12.95). BubbleFest 2014 at the Discovery Science Center

That's right it is time for Bubblefest once again! Hard to believe that another year has come and gone and that it is the 18th year of Bubblefest!

This year with the start of the massive expansion to the Discovery Science Center, Bubblefest is located on the north parking lot close to the Main Place Mall. It is actually easier to park on the mall side and cross the street to Bubblefest!
Good crowd right at opening!
Lots of great things for kids and adults to do and learn about the science of bubbles!
My friend Rachelle brought her Godson Owen to experience Bubblefest! Owen is working hard and learning about bubbles!
I love how it breaks everything down so everyone can understand various scientific principles surrounding bubbles and various conditions!
Rachelle showing off her awesome bubble making skills!
Rachelle and Owen making bubbles together.
One of my favorite things are the Chicken Idol chickens. Owen and Rachelle are listening to the chickens tell jokes and sing songs.
On site are two food trucks to help with any hunger issues you have while enjoying the bubbles! On opening day there was the CaliFusion Truck!
There was also Ninjas With Attitude!
Plus, Maui Wowi is back again with fresh fruit smoothies and coffee!
New this year is the solar fountain!
Follow the instructions and see if you can trigger the surprise feature!
As you can see there is quite the crowd!
Lots of families out and about!

But the can't miss highlight is the Mega Bubblefest Laser Show! I have seen this show three times and I look forward to this show every single year!
Let's warm up the crowd and go over some ground rules!
The show is put on by Deni Yang and he makes bubbles spin and dance and do some cool things that you never thought a bubble could do before!

Kids are invited to a special floor seating area in front of the stage to get up close and personal with the bubbles!
Here are some highlights from the show!

Smoke filled bubbles look so cool in the air and when they finally pop.
Deni even asks for a couple of brave volunteers to come up!
Bubbles within bubbles!
More smoke filled bubbles!
Bubble artistry in motion!
The finale with lasers and millions of bubbles!

Bubblefest is always my most eagerly anticipated event of the year at the Discovery Science Center! It is a great way for kids and adults to spend the day together! It is such an anticipated event that I highly recommend to get there early especially if your kids want to try everything!

Bubblefest runs now until April 20th!

2013 Bubblefest at the Discovery Science Center!

Hard to believe that it's time for Bubblefest! A year has quickly come and gone and it is here at the Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana until April 14th!

And believe it or not, it is the 17th Year of Bubblefest! This time I took my good friend Kris and her son Sebastian to the event!

So tickets and media pass in hand, let's go!
Here Kris is helping Seb make a giant bubble! There are so many hand on activities to keep all tje kids busy.
Then Seb went to give it a try to be a boy in a bubble on the water.
He did a great job!
Then Seb saw the giant slide! He had to go on it!
Here he comes!
Next time I will try a smoothie from here! This is one of the stands out to get coffee, tea or a smoothie.
The hit from last year is back! Yep these crazy chickens were back to sing and tell jokes!
It was time for us to go into the main event! The Mega Bubble Show! This is the highlight of Bubblefest and should not be missed!
Deni Yang puts on an amazing show!
In front of the stage is a kids zone and as you can see the kids love bubbles!

Pro Tip: There is no photography or video recording allowed except for those with Media Credentials.
Deni does some really cool stuff with smoke and bubbles!
Deni puts a young boy inside a bubble!
Then he puts a young boy and girl in a bubble together!
The finale is a crazy amount of bubbles combines with lasers!
Yes, that is all bubbles around Deni! Awesome show and you and your family will love it! Seb had a great time watching all the cool things that Deni can make out of bubbles!
There are several food trucks out for anyone hungry. Here is one of my favorites, The Viking Truck!
Crepes Bonaparte, another favorite is here!
I have seen The Flip Truck out and about but still have never had anything from here.
But we went to go play with more bubbles before we ate. Here science and fun combine for a great experience!
Seb had a great time and then decided it was time for us to eat!
We all went to The Viking Truck! I had the massive broadsword hot dog and a side of dragon eggs!
After eating we went inside and got tickets for the Indy exhibit. This has been my favorite exhibit thus far at the Discovery Science Center!

I won't include any photos here since I covered the grand opening last year. Here are the two links to that event:

Indiana Jones Exhibit Part One

Indiana Jones Exhibit Part Two

Seb helped out to dig up an ancient treasure! Then we went to go explore the rest of the Discovery Science Center!
Seb then went to send a rocket up in the air using water pressure!
Here Seb's hair is trying to withstand winds of 80 miles per hour!
Doing some work at the Lego workstation.
You van record your own play-by-play of a Ducks game!
One of my favorite areas, a grocery store for kids to learn which products are environmentally friendly.
And one last thing to try out, a fun game to teach you all about recycling.

There is so much to do here! Seb had a great time and pretty much tired himself out by the end! Bubblefest was once again a blast and there are big crowds. I suggest you arrive early and get as much done while it is still nice and cool and then end the day exploring the inside of the Discovery Science Center.
