ZOE SALDAÑA, SIGOURNEY WEAVER, AND KATE WINSLET FEATURED IN UNDERWATER ART CELEBRATING “AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER” AND SHOT BY CHRISTY LEE ROGERS TO RAISE FUNDS FOR THE NATURE CONSERVANCY

Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, and Kate Winslet, stars of 20th Century Studios’ “Avatar: The Way of Water,” posed for renowned underwater photographer Christy Lee Rogers for a series of photographs celebrating our oceans to raise funds to support The Nature Conservancy (TNC).

James Cameron, the film’s producer/director/writer, is a long-time supporter of ocean conservation. Rogers created these artworks in her unique style, breaking usual conventions and shooting the actresses through the play of light refracting through the water to evoke the feel of a painting.

Cameron said: “I have long admired Christy’s art and began collecting her works several years ago. Her unique style of shooting her subjects underwater naturally inspired me to suggest she do a special shoot with our cast.”

The artwork will be launched online on March 8, 2024, as four  limited edition, museum quality photographs signed by Rogers, as well as a series of high-quality prints both signed by Rogers and unsigned, available for purchase through Fraser Scott at A Gallery Artists Ltd. via  Rogers’ website at  www.christyleerogers.com/avatar.

“Offering these unique pieces of art to benefit The Nature Conservancy through the “Avatar: The Way of Water’s” ‘Keep Our Oceans Amazing’ campaign is a perfect synergy, and we were excited to collaborate with Christy,” added producer Jon Landau.

In celebration of “Avatar: The Way of Water,” Disney and “Avatar” launched a global “Keep Our Oceans Amazing” campaign to raise awareness of the challenges facing oceans and marine life. The campaign supports TNC and its work to protect 10 of our oceans’ amazing animals and their habitats, connected to the beauty of Pandora. This art sale is one of many ways fans can help TNC reach its goal, as 100 percent of net proceeds from the art sales will go to TNC and help protect our oceans. Christy Lee Rogers said: “Water is healing – it’s life itself. And as the provider of life – oxygen to all through tiny phytoplankton, our oceans need our care more than ever right now. It is a great honor to be able to help James Cameron, Jon Landau, and the ‘Avatar’ and Disney teams in realizing that dream of clean and protected world oceans – through the release of these images for The Nature Conservancy.”

“Healthy oceans are vital to the health of the planet and all living things, including people. Oceans are 90 percent of the habitable planet and home to more than half of all life on earth; they provide livelihoods for billions of people, produce the food we eat and half the air we breathe,” said Melissa Garvey, global director of ocean protection at The Nature Conservancy. “Through the work of Christy Lee Rogers and the support of Disney and ‘Avatar,’ we can shape a brighter future where people and nature can thrive—ensuring healthier oceans for all.”

20th Century Studios’ “Avatar: The Way of Water,” nominated for four Academy Awards® including best picture, is filmmaker James Cameron’s highly acclaimed first follow-up to his 2009 blockbuster hit “Avatar.” Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, “Avatar: The Way of Water” begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure. Directed by James Cameron and produced by Cameron and Jon Landau, the Lightstorm Entertainment Production stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, and Kate Winslet. The screenplay is by James Cameron & Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver. The story is by James Cameron & Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver & Josh Friedman & Shane Salerno. David Valdes and Richard Baneham serve as the film’s executive producers.

Guardians of The Galaxy, Vol. 2 Is The Perfect Start to Summer (Non-Spoiler Review)

The Guardians of The Galaxy are back in a movie that is even more action packed and visually stunning that the first! And at the same time, it is also a more deeply personal story, exploring the ever changing dynamics of the relationships between the characters. We find out even more details about the characters, what truly motivates them and sometimes with very surprising results. This isn't to say that there are role reversals but instead that these are real people with many sides to them.

One of the best things about Marvel is that they love flawed characters and showcase their issues as a conflict between who they are and what they do. Here, The Guardians of The Galaxy fight evil alien creatures and yet at the same time have a strong sense of loyalty.

One of the greatest strengths in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is shown here in Guardians of The Galaxy, Vol. 2 and it is in the very characters themselves. We love the Marvel characters because of their flaws, they remind us of ourselves, and that maybe, just maybe we can also overcome our own flaws and achieve something more. This movie is more so about family than even the first one. And just like an real family, blood relatives or not, there are times we fight against one another but in the end we work together because we are stronger united.

While all of this deep character development is going on, there is still over the top action and humor that you have come to expect from the first one. If you didn't want all the Groot things before the movie, you will want them after! You will get everything that you expect and more, but the thing you will most remember is what you didn't expect from this movie. The character arcs brings some of the characters closer to one another or further apart. All the returning cast is excellent here. They take to their roles like they have been in them their entire lives. The characters of Nebula and Yondu are the defining arc here. Kurt Russell ass Ego is a welcomed addition to the cast and one can image him as Peter Quill if this film was made in the 1980s.

Guardians of The Galaxy, Vol. 2 is a pure joy. The visuals are spectacular, the humor has been cranked up from the first film, and yet it is emotional and full of heart. The nostalgia factor also plays a wonderful role here with great references to the past, Baby Groot is a winner for all age levels, a solid story and summer movie season is off to a flying start!

Star Trek Beyond’s Justin Lin, Simon Pegg and Zoe Saldana talk making-of, sound design in #DolbyCinema

Dolby has released an exclusive Star Trek Beyond video – which features director Justin Lin, writer and actor Simon Pegg, as well as actress Zoe Saldana, who plays “Lieutenant Uhura”.

At the helm of the Enterprise this time was Justin Lin (known for his work on the Fast & Furious” series). Directing one of Hollywood’s biggest franchise films is no easy task with so many pieces that had to come together – including sound design – to make the action-packed film resonate with audiences.

“The Enterprise is more than just a ship, it’s a vessel that basically has bonded us and all of these characters for 50 years. Sonically, as we design a shot, as we design a scene, it [sound] is not just about levels and stuff. It was about feeling. It’s emotional. With Dolby, we have more tools available to us than ever. As a filmmaker, the aesthetic has evolved to be able to build these moments.” - Justin Lin, Director of Star Trek

Star Trek Beyond is now playing at Dolby Cinema locations at AMC, featuring Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. Dolby Cinema is a premium cinema offering for exhibitors and moviegoers that combines spectacular image and sound technologies with inspired design to make every visit a completely captivating cinematic event. More information about Dolby Cinema at AMC and locations can be found here.
