Sasaki Time Goes to e3! From Guest Bloggers Cesar and Mayra!

Have you heard of e3? It is short for the Electronic Entertainment Expo that is held annually in Los Angeles! If you are a video game fan then this is the place that you want to be! I was able to get two tickets to attend just one day of the expo but I was not able to go so my friend Cesar and Mayra were able to cover and cover the event for me!

The huge news was of course the two brand new systems from Sony and Microsoft! This would have been the year to go to check out two new video game systems!
Here is Cesar's trip report:

Having never been to E3, I didn't know what to expect. Other conventions have you shoulder to shoulder with other attendees fighting for space. This was not the case here. I have never felt this comfortable at a trade show before. No long lines waiting to get your hands on the latest games and technology.
The expo was divided into 2 main halls. In the first hall were the 3 big names in gaming. Both Microsoft and Sony had their newest consoles out on display for all to see. Microsoft's main focus seemed to be demonstrating the kinect's new ability to accurately read your body's movement and the graphic capabilities of the xbox one.
Sony, on the other hand, focused on their exclusive games.
Although Nintendo did not unveil a new console, they had plenty of games for us to try. The best part were all the cool interactive photo locations they had setup.

The second hall was dedicated to game manufacturers as well as aftermarket products. I was pleasantly surprised by the really cool indie games being developed as well. My only regret was not having enough time to experience all the amazing things the trade show has to offer. Also for a trade show, I was expecting a lot of giveaways promoting the upcoming releases. The few promotional items being handed out seemed to be restricted to select members of the media.

All in all, I had an amazing time. If you are a video game junkie like myself, E3 is a must. Thank you Jason for the opportunity of a lifetime. My Christmas list is now complete!
*Thank you Cesar and Mayra for covering this event for me! Check out more of Cesar's photos on the next installment from e# where it will be Disney specific!*

More Details on Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX Coming to PS3 This Fall

“Although my heart may be weak, it’s not alone. It’s grown with each new experience. And it’s found a home with all the friends I’ve made. I’ve become a part of their heart, just as they’ve become a part of mine… I don’t need a weapon. My friends are my power!”

Since this memorable speech, Sora’s dedication to his friends has shown across the series, and the magic of KINGDOM HEARTS continues to unite fans throughout the world. Ten years later and seven entries in, we have a new opportunity to replay the adventure that started it all in beautiful HD.
We’re proud to announce the upcoming release of KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5 ReMIX for North America! The young Sora wields the magical keyblade in search of his lost friends, making new ones with Disney’s Goofy and Donald along the way. The story continues through classic Disney stories like Aladdin, Hercules, Alice in Wonderland, Pinocchio, and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Utilizing RPG mechanics and gaining new exploratory powers throughout his adventure, Sora solidified himself as a starry-eyed hero that bridged Disney classics with a unique overarching story of friendship and courage. This classic hit comes in breathtaking HD with various gameplay enhancements, and is exclusively available for the first time on PlayStation 3 this fall.

Sora’s adventures took a dramatic turn with his journey into the mysterious Castle Oblivion in KINGDOM HEARTS Re:Chain of Memories. These events revealed some of the hidden intentions behind the shadowy Organization XIII. Their movements and the training of one notable character in the series, Roxas, are detailed even further in stunning HD visuals through the cinematic scenes of KINGDOM HEARTS 358/2 Days.
All of this is included with full Trophy support in one spectacular release. Plus, KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5 ReMIX includes the once-exclusive KINGDOM HEARTS FINAL MIX content, like new enemies, weapons, abilities, cutscenes, missions and more!
We can’t thank the fans enough (many of whom have asked us many times for this very game!) for all their support throughout the years, and we urge all of you to continue to follow news surrounding KINGDOM HEARTS on our official Twitter and Facebook. Relish this opportunity to replay the original and know again why without a doubt, the light, is KINGDOM HEARTS!

Sony PlayStation 4 Event (February 20, 2013)

Sony showcased the long rumored PlayStation 4 today during a two hour event. They did not show the system, disclose its price and were vague about the release date other than Holiday 2013. With that being said, let's look at what they did talk about!

Remote Play - All the PS4 games will be able to played on the PS Vita
DualShock 4 controller - Sharing the similar design of the current controller but adding a touchpad, a share button, a headphone jack, and a light bar to track the controller.

No Backward Compatability to the PS3. But Sony says that we will be able to stream games through the PlayStation Cloud. It is still unclear how this will work.

Games:
KillZone Shadow Fall - Stunning fluid animation and the shadowing and flares have never looked better!

Drive Club looks stunning! This could be one of the best driving games ever!

Infamous: Second Son looks like an amazing follow up to the already great Infamous series!

There were also phenomenal demos from Capcom and Square Enix! Square Enix announced that a new Final Fantasy game is coming! They did show any footage of that game but said more will be unveiled at E3!

Diablo 3 is coming from Blizzard! Cannot wait to see this running on both the PS3 and PS4! And Bungie, creators of Halo for the XBOX, showed Destiny!

So, as to be expected, the games look stunning! But I want to see the system and know how many arms and legs it is going to cost me! I am sure we will learn more at E3!

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (The Movie)

Morphinapg is back with the final installment of the Uncharted series!

Considering this is the best game series I've ever played, and certainly the most cinematic, I decided to make them into movies. I decided that I would include every cinematic, and link them by the minimum gameplay needed to connect the cinematics without creating any plot holes. Obviously to do this I had to take out certain sections of gameplay, but doing so does not have any effect on story. As I was trying to make these as close to a real movie experience as I could, there were a few guidelines I decided to follow:

1. I would try to remove as many on screen references to this being a game as possible, such as chapter titles and button or new ammo prompts. Some of these would either be impossible or would too much negatively impact the quality of the film, such as the near constant ammo OSD, or the occasional "select" prompt for drake's journal during puzzles.

2. I would try to include as much of the puzzles, in game cinematics and cinematic gameplay elements as I could. Some areas still needed to be cut to keep the movie flowing properly or, in the case of Uncharted 2 and 3, to keep the run length shorter than it would have been otherwise.

3. I tried to keep as much in game dialogue as I could, as I believe those really help develop the characters. However, as I said, I also had to keep an eye on how much gameplay I was using to make sure it didn't make things too boring or make the movie too long.

In the end, my goal was to make a movie that would be watchable whether the viewer was a fan of Uncharted or not, and whether the viewer was a video game player or not. My initial reason was to find a way to show the story of these games to people in my family who don't play video games. I think I succeeded.

However, remember that these movies WERE created from video games that are much longer when played through, so they will be quite long to watch. Here are the run lengths for all three:

Uncharted 1: 113 minutesUncharted 2: 177 minutes
Uncharted 3: 195 minutes

Uncharted 1: Drake's Fortune (Cut as a movie)

Someone by the name of morphinapg has cut all three Uncharted video games into feature length movies!

Here is more from morphinapg:
