Craft Time: Hatbox Ghost Papercraft

Hatbox Ghost Papercraft PDF File

Time: 20 Minutes

What You’ll Need

  • Regular paper or cardstock
  • Scissors
  • Glue or double-sided tape

How To Make It

  1. Print the template on regular paper or cardstock and cut out the pieces. Make all folds along dashed lines.
  2. Using glue or double-sided tape, begin assembly of the Hatbox Ghost by securing all tabs to their corresponding pieces in alphabetical order, starting with the A tabs on the head.
  3. Assemble the body, starting with the D tabs at the bottom. When the body is complete, attach the Hatbox Ghost’s head.
  4. Assemble the legs, starting with the H tabs at the heel of each foot. Close the legs with the L tabs, and use the remaining tabs to secure the legs to the body.
  5. Fold each arm in half and secure so the design is two-sided. Butterfly the tabs outward and use them to attach the arms to the Hatbox Ghost’s body.
  6. Fold the cane in half and secure so the design is two-sided, then attach the cane to the Hatbox Ghost’s right hand.

Notes

Cutting should be done by an adult.

The Legendary Hatbox Ghost Materializes in Disneyland for the 60th Anniversary!

Photo taken at the 2013 D23 Expo by myself

The Hatbox Ghost did appear in The Haunted Mansion when it first opened back in 1969. The effect of his head disappearing and appearing in a hatbox he held in his right hand was never convincing and the Hatbox Ghost disappeared into legend. But he appeared on several pieces of merchandise and then the rumors of his return materialized when this audio animatronic figure appeared at the 2013 D23 Expo. But finally, the Disney Parks Blog made the official announcement that the Hatbox Ghost would make his long-awaited return in May!
