Restaurant Review: Carolina's Italian Restaurant - One of my Favorite Local Hole In The Wall Restaurants! (Garden Grove)

One of my favorite local hole in the wall restaurants is Carolina's Italian Restaurant in Garden Grove. Located a few miles south of Disneyland, if you love good Italian food and love beer, then this is the place for you! Family owned for over 30 years and featuring 286 beers, you too will fall in love with this place!

Tonight I went with my friends Kevin and Julie! Kevin and I decided on a beer! With 286 beers the staff is happy to help you make the perfect selection for you! Also if you get two beers for yourself, you will get an awesome shirt! Cheers!
Dinner comes with the option of soup or salad. My friend Julie went with the minestrone soup.
I always go with the salad and the amazing Italian dressing they have on the table!
The cheesy bread comes with dinner and I am not ashamed to say I dunk it in the dressing! So good!
Julie went with the penne francescana. It features a mix of the homemade alfredo sauce and meat sauce with mushrooms, peas and garlic. Absolutely delicious!
Kevin went with the spaghetti and mushrooms! Mushrooms and spinach is sauteed in olive oil and garlic. A perfectly light and healthy dish!
I went with the traditional spaghetti and meatballs. Two massive meatballs in a rich marinara sauce served on a huge palte of spaghetti. So rich and delicious!
At the end of the meal they bring you out a scoop of spumoni! Such a perfect end to a great meal with great friends!

Food Review: Zlaket's Market

I was recommended to try Zlaket's Food Market that is located on Historic Main Street in Garden Grove. Zlaket's has been here for 86 years! They are still primarily a butcher shop but make classic deli sandwiches and sides as well as offer classic sodas and candy. You will feel like you stepped back into time.
I took my friend Kristy and Brian with me to have late lunch on Friday. I also wanted to go on Friday because Main Street hosts a classic car show.
The wall contains just some of the classic sodas they carry!
Here is my food! An amazing cream soda, sour cream and onion chips and the special of the day, a tender steak sandwich. There is something about watching the butcher slice the meat you selected and hand making your sandwich.
Here is a close up of my sandwich. The steak was so tender and the basics of mayo, lettuce and tomato just take me back to being a kid. Comfort food at its finest!
Brian got a pastrami sandwich! Look at how much pastrami there is!
Kristy decided on a baked ham sandwich, another special of the day. Now that's a sandwich!
They also have an ice cream section where they will make an ice cream float using any of the sodas that they have available! They also have some great recommendations if you aren't sure what to mix! I went with their Cookie Monster suggestion!
Cookies and cream ice cream with chocolate soda is a perfect match! You cannot go wrong with chocolate and more chocolate!

Pizza & Chicken Love Letter

One of my favorite places to get a pizza is Pizza and Chicken Love Letter, a Korean place. Korean you say? That's right Korean! And the name is probably one of the coolest ever!

Their specialty pizza is the sweet potato pizza. As you can see from the photo below, it is more than just pizza with sweet potatoes!

You get a salad of sorts to start that consists of shredded cabbage, thousand island dressing and corn on top.

We also ordered a half order of regular fried chicken. Some of the best fried chicken ever! Crispy, hot and flavorful!

Finally, the sweet potato pizza! The combination of flavors is perfect and makes you want to keep on eating! They even have a stuff crust pizza with mashed sweet potatoes as the filling! I have to try that one for sure!

If you're a pizza fan, then you owe it to yourself to give this one a try!
