Blu-ray Reviews: The Joy Luck Club and Babes in Toyland!

Hey everybody it's Jason with two new blu-ray reviews! This time it is for The Joy Luck Club and Babes In Toyland! Both are making their blu-ray debut on December 11th!

I am a huge fan of both films and happy to see them getting the remastered, digital restoration treatment! I am probably in the minority of people who were looking forward to both of these movies so it probably helps explain why there are no bonus features for either film.

The Joy Luck Club

The Joy Luck Club centers around four Chinese women living in San Francisco and their American born adult daughters. The story focuses on each of these women as they struggle to understand one another, clash between generations as well as cultures, and their hopes and sometimes disappointments.

The video and audio of course are Disney perfect! The colors are crisp and clean. The audio is crystal clear.
Like I mentioned earlier there are no bonus features for this film.

Babes In Toyland

Tom the Piper’s Son is about to marry Mary Quite Contrary. On the eve of their wedding, evil miser Barnaby hires two henchmen to drown Tom and steal Mary’s sheep, cared for by Little Bo Peep, thus depriving Mary and the children she lives with of their livelihood, forcing her to marry Barnaby. The sheep arestolen, but Gonzorgo and Roderigo, Barnaby’s henchmen, double-cross him by selling Tom to a band of gypsies instead, leaving Tom with the opportunity to escape and make his way with Mary, Bo-Peep, and other Mother Goose characters to Toyland.

If you are a Disney trivia fan like I am then you will be pleased to know that this was Disney’s first live-action musical fantasy! This was also produced by Walt Disney himself. With that I was surprised that there wasn't at least one bonus feature for this movie!

The transfer looks sharp on this release. Disney has delivered the good for for a film that over 50 years old, it doesn’t show it’s age. The audio is great for a mono soundtrack.

Both blu-rays come out December 11th! They both make for a great stocking stuffer for your Disney movie fan!
