Copycat Recipes: Wendy's Chili

Ingredients:

2 lbs. fresh ground beef
1 qt. tomato juice
1 (29 oz.) can tomato puree
1 (15 oz.) can red beans, drained
1 medium onion (1 1/2 c.), chopped
1/2 C. celery, diced
1/4 C. green pepper, diced
1/4 C. chili powder1 tsp. cumin (if you like real flavor, add more)
1 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. each: black pepper, oregano, sugar
1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper

Preparation:
In a frying pan, brown the ground beef; drain. Put the drained beef and the remaining ingredients into a 6-quart pot. Cover the pot; let it simmer for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, stirring every 15 minutes

  2. get me the clone recipe to stagg chili and I'll be happy :). Wendy's is still my goto for a sore throat tho...nothing feels better on a sore throat than hot wendy's chili, and beer.

    2. I worked there as well, So not the recipe. IDK about other stores, But the one I was at didnt use fresh ground beef, They used day old already cooked meat patties that didnt get sold in the time period given on cooked foods.

    4. Wendy's receives their Chili's premade. This so called Wendy's worker wouldn't have a clue about the recipe.

  4. anonymous.....I hope that is not true..my husband loves that chili he has fragile health...I would hate for him to get sick from eating old meat

  5. Your right, day old cooked meat is not Old Meat. It's fine. It gets used fast, and doesn't sit around.
