Celebrate Simu Liu's Birthday with a Teaser Poster and Trailer for Marvel's Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings!

 


This morning the poster for Marvel Studios’ “Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings” debuted on actor Simu Liu’s social sites. The actor, who stars as the film’s title character, Shang-Chi, celebrates his birthday today and was excited that Marvel Studios gave him the poster to share as a special birthday gift! 


Marvel Studios’ “Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings” stars Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, who must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization. The film also stars Tony Leung as Wenwu, Awkwafina as Shang-Chi’s friend Katy and Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan, as well as Fala Chen, Meng’er Zhang, Florian Munteanu and Ronny Chieng. 

 

“Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings” is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and produced by Kevin Feige and Jonathan Schwartz, with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso and Charles Newirth serving as executive producers. David Callaham & Destin Daniel Cretton & Andrew Lanham wrote the screenplay for the film, which opens in theaters on September 3, 2021.

THE DORA MILAJE JOIN MARVEL STUDIOS’ “THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER”

 


A new featurette for Marvel Studios’ “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” is available now, showcasing Ayo and the Dora Milaje’s return to the MCU. Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, director Kari Skogland, Florence Kasumba and Wyatt Russell share thoughts on the warriors in action. The penultimate episode begins streaming exclusively on Disney+ this Friday.

DISNEY’S “LAUNCHPAD” COLLECTION OF SHORT FILMS FROM A NEW GENERATION OF STORYTELLERS

 



BURBANK, Calif. (April 14, 2021) – Today, Disney+ revealed the official trailer and key art for Disney’s inaugural season of “LAUNCHPAD,” a collection of live-action short films from a new generation of dynamic storytellers. All six short films will be available to stream on Disney+ beginning May 28.

 

The filmmakers, all from underrepresented backgrounds, were selected from more than 1100 U.S. applicants and were given an opportunity to share their perspectives and creative visions with audiences around the world. Each filmmaker was assigned executive mentors from the various divisions of the company, including Disney+, Lucasfilm, Marvel Studios, Pixar, Walt Disney Animation Studios and Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production.

 

The goal of Disney’s “LAUNCHPAD” is to diversify the types of stories that are being told and to give access to those who have historically not had it. Inspired by life’s journey, these first six short films for Disney+ are based on the theme, “Discover.”

 

Submissions for the second season of Disney’s “LAUNCHPAD,” which will be based around the theme of “Connection,” will be accepted beginning May 10, 2021 with the brand-new addition of a writers’ track: https://launchpad.disney.com/

 

Mahin Ibrahim, Director of Disney’s Diversity & Inclusion, Market, who oversees the “LAUNCHPAD” program, said, “This first group of shorts by these six gifted filmmakers took our breath away. AMERICAN EID,” Written and Directed by Aqsa Altaf.

Ameena, a Muslim Pakistani immigrant, wakes up on Eid to find out that she has to go to school. Homesick and heartbroken, she goes on a mission to make Eid a public-school holiday, and in the process, reconnects with her older sister, and embraces her new home, while her new home embraces her. 

 

“DINNER IS SERVED,” Directed by Hao Zheng, Written by G. Wilson & Hao Zheng.

NEVER BEFORE SEEN CLIP FROM "SECRETS OF THE WHALES"

 


BURBANK, Calif. (April 13, 2021) – Today, Disney+ shared a clip from its upcoming original series, “Secrets of the Whales,” featuring a sperm whale calf nursing from its mother – a moment recorded on video for the first time.

 

Additional never before seen moments featured in the series include: evidence suggesting that Belugas give themselves names so groups can keep track of each other; baby belugas sharing their moms’ call signs, scientists learning that a baby sperm whale suckled from its mother when they saw the footage, 30,000 humpbacks charging down the coast of Australia towards Antarctica and using breeches to talk to each other, and the first cross-species adoption ever recorded; Beluga pod adopts narwhal as part of the pod.

 

The four-part series, from National Geographic, is executive produced by Academy Award®-winning filmmaker and conservationist James Cameron (“Avatar”) and narrated by award-winning actress and conservationist Sigourney Weaver (“Alien,” “Avatar,” “Gorillas in the Mist”)All four episodes will be available to stream exclusively on Earth Day, Thursday, April 22, 2021, exclusively on Disney+.

 

The digital soundtrack to “Secrets of the Whales,” with score composed, produced and mixed by Raphaelle Thibaut, will be released on April 19 by Hollywood Records/Disney Music Group. Music from Secrets of the Whales Original Soundtrack features 20 tracks from the series and will be available at digital service providers.

 

The three-year project will also be featured in the new National Geographic book, Secrets of the Whales, now on sale, and the May issue of National Geographic magazine, The Ocean Issue, available online at natgeo.com/planetpossible, on April 15.

Academy Award® winner Emma Stone (“La La Land”) stars in Disney’s “Cruella,” an all-new live-action feature film about the rebellious early days of one of cinemas most notorious – and notoriously fashionable – villains, the legendary Cruella de Vil. “Cruella,” which is set in 1970s London amidst the punk rock revolution, follows a young grifter named Estella, a clever and creative girl determined to make a name for herself with her designs. She befriends a pair of young thieves who appreciate her appetite for mischief, and together they are able to build a life for themselves on the London streets. One day, Estella’s flair for fashion catches the eye of the Baroness von Hellman, a fashion legend who is devastatingly chic and terrifyingly haute, played by two-time Oscar® winner Emma Thompson (“Howards End,” “Sense & Sensibility”). New Trailer for Marvel Studios’ “Black Widow”

 


A new trailer for Marvel Studios’ long-awaited “Black Widow” is available now, showcasing Natasha Romanoff’s struggle to face her past and deal with unfinished business. The action-packed spy thriller will launch simultaneously in theaters and on Disney+ with Premier Access* in most Disney+ markets on July 9, 2021. 


Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger. “OBI-WAN KENOBI” PRODUCTION TO BEGIN AND CAST ANNOUNCED

 


Obi-Wan Kenobi,” the new Disney+ special event series starring Ewan McGregor as the iconic Jedi Master, will begin shooting in April. The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith” where Kenobi faced his greatest defeat, the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader. 

 

“Obi-Wan Kenobi” is directed by Deborah Chow, director of two critically acclaimed episodes of “The Mandalorian,” Season 1.

 

The series also marks the return of Hayden Christensen in the role of Darth Vader. 

 

Joining the cast are Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie.

BURBANK, Calif. (March 23, 2021) – Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution today announced new release details for a number of titles on Walt Disney Studios’ upcoming slate of films. The announcement updates rollout details for the forthcoming Disney live-action “Cruella,” Marvel Studios’ “Black Widow,” and Disney and Pixar’s “Luca,” and also includes revised premiere dates for several other titles.

Following the successful release of “Raya and The Last Dragon, the highly anticipated live-action film “Cruella” and Marvel Studios’ long-awaited “Black Widow” will launch simultaneously in theaters and on Disney+ with Premier Access in most Disney+ markets on Friday, May 28 and on Friday, July 9, respectively.


Similar to the launch of Disney and Pixar’s Academy Award-nominated “Soul” that delighted Disney+ subscribers during the holidays, Disney and Pixar’s “Luca” will stream directly in homes worldwide exclusively on Disney+ beginning Friday, June 18, as a special offering to kick-off the summer season.  In international markets where Disney+ is not yet available, the film will be released theatrically, with premiere dates to be announced.

 

Theatrical release dates also shifted for several additional upcoming films. New release dates include:

 

  • “Free Guy” on August 13, 2021
  • “Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” on September 3, 2021
  • “The King’s Man” on December 22, 2021

MINDY KALING JOINS THE CAST OF DISNEY+ ORIGINAL SERIES ‘MONSTERS AT WORK’ FROM DISNEY TELEVISION ANIMATION

 


BURBANK, Calif. (March 17,  2021) -- Mindy Kaling has joined the cast of Disney+'s highly anticipated animated series "Monsters At Work." Kaling will voice the role of Val Little, an enthusiastic member of the Monsters, Inc. Facilities Team (aka "MIFT"). Additionally, Bonnie Hunt will reprise her role as Ms. Flint, who was formerly in charge of training new Scarers at Monsters, Inc., but will now manage the department responsible for recruiting and training the funniest monsters to become Jokesters. "Monsters At Work" will begin streaming Friday, July 2, exclusively on Disney+.

 

Ben Feldman stars as the voice of Tylor Tuskmon in the series, which introduces new monster characters alongside returning favorites, including Mike Wazowski and James P. "Sulley" Sullivan, who will again be voiced by renowned actors Billy Crystal and John Goodman. Starring alongside Feldman and Kaling as part of the MIFT crew is Henry Winkler ("Happy Days") as Fritz, the scatterbrained boss; Lucas Neff ("Raising Hope") as Duncan, an opportunistic plumber; and Alanna Ubach ("Coco") as Cutter, the officious rule follower. 


"Monsters At Work" takes place the day after the Monsters, Incorporated power plant started harvesting the laughter of children to fuel the city of Monstropolis, thanks to Mike and Sulley's discovery that laughter generates ten times more energy than screams. It follows the story of Tylor Tuskmon, an eager young monster who graduated top of his class at Monsters University and always dreamed of becoming a Scarer until he lands a job at Monsters, Incorporated, and discovers that scaring is out and laughter is in. After Tylor is temporarily reassigned to the Monsters, Inc. Facilities Team (MIFT), he must work alongside a misfit bunch of mechanics while setting his sights on becoming a Jokester.

In addition to Crystal, Goodman and Hunt, returning cast members from the original movies include John Ratzenberger as Yeti and Tylor's dad, Bernard, Jennifer Tilly as Celia Mae and Bob Peterson as Roze, twin sister to his original "Monsters, Inc." character, Roz. Voicing additional characters are Stephen Stanton ("Star Wars Resistance") as Smitty and Needleman, the bumbling custodial team at Monsters, Inc., and Aisha Tyler ("Archer") as Tylor's mom, Millie Tuskmon.

 

Produced by Disney Television Animation, the series was developed and is executive produced by Disney animation veteran Bobs Gannaway ("Mickey Mouse Clubhouse," "Planes: Fire & Rescue"). Academy Award-nominated Sean Lurie ("Inner Workings") is producer, and Kat Good ("Big Hero 6 The Series") and Steve Anderson ("Meet the Robinsons") serve as supervising directors. The late Rob Gibbs ("Monsters, Inc.") also served as director on some of the earlier episodes.

Film Synopsis

Long ago, in the fantasy world of Kumandra, humans and dragons lived together in harmony. But when sinister monsters known as the Druun threatened the land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity. Now, 500 years later, those same monsters have returned and it’s up to a lone warrior, Raya, to track down the last dragon in order to finally stop the Druun for good. However, along her journey, she’ll learn that it’ll take more than dragon magic to save the world—it’s going to take trust as well. From directors Don Hall and Carlos López Estrada, co-directors Paul Briggs and John Ripa, producers Osnat Shurer and Peter Del Vecho, the film features the voices of Kelly Marie Tran as Raya and Awkwafina as Sisu.

DISNEY+ RELEASES FIRST LOOK TRAILER FOR “EARTH MOODS” FROM NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC

 


BURBANK, Calif. (March 15, 2021)  Today, Disney+ shared the trailer and key art for “Earth Moods” from National Geographic. “Earth Moods,” a visual and soundscape experience, takes viewers on the ultimate retreat—transporting them to a vast array of colorful and calming corners of the world. Viewers travel to blue glaciers, arid deserts, lush rainforests and pulsating metropolises to escape from the cacophony of everyday life.  With an original score produced by Neil Davidge, known for “Massive Attack” as well as collaborations with Snoop Dogg and David Bowie, each “mood” gives the audience an opportunity to relax and reset as the sound of music and the natural world washes over them.

 

All five episodes, will be available on Disney+ on Friday, April 16.  Episodes include “Frozen Calm,” “Night Lights,” “Tropical Serenity,” “Desert Solitude,” and “Peaceful Patterns.”

Final Trailer for “THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER”

 


Marvel Studios’ “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” debuts a new trailer today, ramping up the excitement for Friday’s debut of the new original series on Disney+.  All eyes are on the shield, as Sam Wilson aka The Falcon, and Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier decide to team up—or rather, work together—when a new global threat launches them into an unexpected mission that may hit too close to home.  

 

Directed by Kari Skogland with Malcolm Spellman as head writer, the six-episode series stars Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, Emily VanCamp and Daniel Brühl. The series also features Erin Kellyman, Georges St. Pierre, Amy Aquino, Adepero Oduye and Danny Ramirez. “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” debuts on Disney+ March 19, 2021.

DISNEY’S “CRUELLA” SNEAK PEEK AND NEW STILLS

 


BURBANK, Calif. (March 14 , 2021) – Following its debut in tonight’s 2021 GRAMMY Show, The Walt Disney Company has released the sneak peek plus three additional still images from its all-new live-action feature film “Cruella,” starring Academy Award®-winners Emma Stone and Emma Thompson, directed by Craig Gillespie. The film will be released on Friday, May 28.

 




Academy Award® winner Emma Stone (“La La Land”) stars in Disney’s “Cruella,” an all-new live-action feature film about the rebellious early days of one of cinemas most notorious – and notoriously fashionable – villains, the legendary Cruella de Vil. “Cruella,” which is set in 1970s London amidst the punk rock revolution, follows a young grifter named Estella, a clever and creative girl determined to make a name for herself with her designs. She befriends a pair of young thieves who appreciate her appetite for mischief, and together they are able to build a life for themselves on the London streets. One day, Estella’s flair for fashion catches the eye of the Baroness von Hellman, a fashion legend who is devastatingly chic and terrifyingly haute, played by two-time Oscar® winner Emma Thompson (“Howards End,” “Sense & Sensibility”). But their relationship sets in motion a course of events and revelations that will cause Estella to embrace her wicked side and become the raucous, fashionable and revenge-bent Cruella.
