Movie Review: Planes: Fire & Rescue

Dusty Crophopper returns for another Planes movie that takes place not long after the first film ended. Dusty is now famous but finds out that he has a mechanical problem. A broken gear box to be exact. Dusty won't be able to reach his optimal speed without a new one. Dusty then discovers that this part is no longer being produced and he has to deal with the fact that he may no longer be able to race.
Frustrated, Dusty takes to the air to prove to himself that he still has it but his landing causes a fire. This event causes Dusty to change course and sign up to become a firefighter. He sets out to learn from Blade Ranger, a veteran rescue helicopter (voiced by Ed Harris), who runs the fire fighting operation in Piston Peak National Park.
Here Dusty meets the whole team of firefighters including Dipper (voiced by Modern Family's Julie Bowen), a super scooper who has a thing for Dusty and a heavy lifting helicopter named Windlifter (voiced by Wes Studi). The team ends up fighting the ultimate forest fire and Dusty learns what it means to be a real hero.
From the beauty of the Piston Peak National Park to the intensity of the forest fire, the animation is simply gorgeous! The fire may be too intense for little ones though.
A great film about second chances and about being a true hero instead of being a celebrity. A wonderful lesson that everyone can take home. This film is also a wonderful tribute to the brave men and women who risk their lives fighting fires to save others.

Planes: Fire & Rescue is now in theatres!

  1. This was given as a Christmas gift with a set of 11 Disney Planes to play with as he watched. It was exciting to see his toys in the movie. Excellent gift. Movie was fun for the whole family and will be one the kids watch often.
